Moving Ships From W Coast To Other Areas

Greetings: Played PacWar many yrs ago and am now doing WITP. I know this has come up many times b4 and most likely has to do w/restricted commands, but when I form a tf at the West coast, it will always steam out a few hexes and then rtn to port. How do I get ships to PH from the coast?
Must I use PPs to change the HQ at the port? Can't remember how this works.

Thx.

Set a course if you don't want to sail directly to PH and make Pearl Harbor the home port. Do not set to patrol but allow the TF to retire and it will go to PH. Otherwise just set Pearl as the home port and click the return to port button.    Ships will never need PPs unless you're avoiding British withdrawl of ships.  There are no restricted commands for ships, only LCUs and air groups.

tocaff,
Thx for the reply. I think I made a "rookie" mistake by not setting the tf to "patrol/d/n retire" and then setting PH as the dest. Played around w/it after my initial post and it worked that way in both WPO and WITP. I d/n think of just setting PH as the home port and then using the "reurn to..." button as you suggested. Thx for the idea.

No problem.  There's lots to learn as the game is very detailed and I think that most of us never stop learning new things.  Now I'm learning AE while I continue my 2 PBEMs so I suppose it can keep my few remaining brain cells active.

If you read AARs you will find that they can be very informative as well as entertaining.
