During the modding of scenario 1 I found a rather interesting thing about the naval guns in the game. The accuracy values of certain guns in relation to others seems rather weird to me.
Example:
The japanese 10cm/50 Type 88 Gun has an accuracy value of 120 (what does this number mean by the way? How did you calculate it?)
while the 10cm/65 Type 98 has 150.

According to navweaps.com the type 98 is a newer weapon, and is one of the best of their guns. But even if I don't take this into account, there is the fact that the Type 98 has a longer barrel. And as far as I know that usually means better accuracy.

Here are a couple more guns with the same "issue":
8cm/40 Type 88 and 8cm/60 Type 98 (160 against 180)
12cm/12 Short gun has the same value (100) as the 12cm/45 3YT ....
12.7/40 T89 AA also has the same value as the 12.7/50s
14cm/40 and 14cm/50s (same value)
20cm/12 and 20cm/50s (same value)

The american side seems a bit better balanced, but there are interesting things there too. I'm not going to list them here, I believe I made my point.

as I understand in witp "accuracy" mean rate of fire,
accuracy 120 /10 = 12 rounds per minute.

for small calibre gun formula is little different

Accuracy is mainly determined by ROF, but there are also some numbers where other things factor into it.

I was more concerned with the penetration values for the big guns to be honest - so I went and modded them! [:D]

There are many labels for data that do not necessarily correspond to the common usage of a word...[8|]

Example:

US 5"/38 has an accuracy of 200 which is more than some 2-3" guns yet it only has an average rate of fire. This is supposed to be secret formula but IMHO its a fudge factor to try to get the balance right eg the 100mm/65 guns were more accurate AND had a higher rate of fire yet has a lower accuracy. It was tuned on WITP and has not been adjusted to AE. It prob also represents some proximity fuse affect and gunnery control ( which is VERY hard to balance as 41 is not the same as 44 and a BB has superior control to a DD with the same gun) , which make me decide its a fudge factor as there are not enough params to model it eg performance vs air , vs naval , 41 , 45 gun on a DD , gun on a BB. It would be better that this gun upgraded to a better gun in the 43-44 refits showing the gunnery control , BBS could also use the improved gun earlier to show better gunnery control.
