Japanese resource management

Greetings all,
As a newbie, I got to play Japan in a PBEM game against another newbie. I love the game, but we are on the Dec 9th turn and it is time for the Japanese to start managing their resouces and oil.
I hope maybe Mike Solli will answer this, since he seems to be the big Kahuna when it comes to this stuff, but any response would be appreciated.
My question is this: Is there a way you can tell at a glance what base has resources in excess of their own needs to export? Going base to base is really hard and I need to know which bases have resouces/oil which are growing each turn as opposed to one's that just have a lot stored there. I know I need to export resources/oil from bases where it is produced but can't figure out how you can tell the bases that produce a resource/oil from one's where it is just stored.
If this question makes any sense at all, give me some help as I feel pretty clueless in this area!

Welcome to the Dark Side!
Don't worry about individual bases. Just worry about regions. A region is a series of bases connected by rail. The AI will move oil/resources/fuel to where it's needed. Just figure out how much you need to move to each region each month. Here's a little info to get you started. Look at the yellow numbers at the right. That's what each region needs per month to function at 100%. The green numbers are what you have in excess at start. Get resources moving to Honshu as soon as possible. You have enough to last you just over a month!

WitpTracker is your friend. See the thread on the main forum. I would not survive without it.

Thanks to Mike and Mynok. I do have Tracker installed, thanks for showing me the chart that needs to be looked at. With all these spreadsheets and charts on tracker, it can cause overload trying to find just which ones you need to look at. [&o]

I haven't seen the new Tracker yet, but the Industry tab under which is the all important Witp Chart overview is the primary area. I assume they are named similarly in AE Tracker.
There is also a tab for Oil/Res which shows you what areas need shipments.

I have to agree that I sometimes give information overload in Tracker, many of the Ind Tables are just additional information, and not something that I look at all the time. Start by looking at the Oil/Res Tab, as Mynok stated. Filtering and seeing the information in the details panel below will give you a good idea about Base Production.
I agree with Mike, not to sweat too much about bases, I like that additional level of detail however so that I can see where to pick up [;)] (and think his chart is a very good starting point).
I'll eventually make it a bit more user friendly, but there are tutorials coming to our web page eventually.
Mynok, although there are some cool features in V1, you might as well wait for the stolen Martian Tech in V2.

I did not mean to sound critical, all those charts start to make sense once you get an idea what you are looking for. As somebody who is a "stats freak" your stuff its quite nice. Just as a new player it is sometimes hard to know what is the key charts and what ones are more complimentary. [:)]
