I'm big fan of PG, after reading so many PG fans' threads, I've chosen to buy it even though it's not perfect enough now.

downloading... hope it's worth the money.

I think you'll find that it is worth it. Especially, if you have the time to play with the Editor.

Wish I could bring myself to buy Eagle Day, too. If it had an Editor and higher resolution, I would have. But $50 is too much for an updated game system.

Make sure you allow the required DirectX 9 to install.

So from what I'm gathering, this game does not support the latest version of DirectX?

No, it would be more accurate to say that Windows Vista does not support DirectX 9, which this game requires. The game installer installs DirectX 9 by default, but some people unchecked that option thinking that Vista would already have it. Logically, you might think so, but DirectX 10 does not fully support DirectX 9.

And actually, MS doesn't really clarify it but the DX9 packages also include DX10 upgrades...the two operate beside each other, one doesn't overwrite the other.

I know this is not the place but nothing Microsoft did with Vista makes any sense. Hard to fathom what they were thinking.

BTW, this game is excellent so far. Another quality product from you folks.

I finally bought the game 24 hours ago, and it did not take long to realize this is another Matrix winner. The FEW naysayers seem to be big babies. So far the game has been a pure joy to look at and play(still don't get that 'so 90's graphics' remark. So, here goes my broken record again GREAT JOB-I have now purchased 54 Matrix games, and had JUST one disappointment. No other gaming company has those stats with me. Gotta get back to changing history, thanks again.

I got my trigger finger on my credit card, and as soon as the recent beta update/patch is finalized and incorporated into the install, I'll be picking this one up...

I would say that "54 Matrix purchases!" rates pretty high in the accomplishments category as well. Good job!

I need to understand something here if dx9 has not been installed on a Vista system but dx10 does a player still need to let dx9 install and overrite dx10 files?

AFAIK DX9 installs do not overwrite DX10 files - I think they are seperate installs (filenames or whatever) - I don't think they interfere with each other.

That's correct - you need to install DirectX 9. However, it does NOT overwrite DirectX 10. They coexist and it's perfectly safe to do.

Well Zap, I am proud that Matrix has had 54 products that I wanted. I have bought several games from each of several other companies, I think the most would be the "Heroes of Might & Magic" series, and the Civ franchise. But no one comes close to the great MATRIX.
