Next up for Tennessee in this 1964 replay is Bear Bryant's Alabama Crimson Tide. Alabama won the National Championship in 1964 and I have edited the player ratings to try to reflect that. In this replay, the teams enter the game with 4-0 records. The difference in real life is that Tennessee lost to Auburn 3-0 resulting in a 3-1 record entering the Alabama game. In my replay UT beat Auburn 21-7.

The game should be interesting.

The challenge for me in this replay is to edit Tennessee's player ratings to reflect a team that finished the season with a 4-5-1 record. That shouldn't seem hard except that Tennessee had a tremendous defense in 1964 and a woeful offense; kind of like this year's team. The difference between 2009 and 1964 is that UT's quaterbacks in 1964 weren't incompetent, just injury prone. It's a work in progress. Maybe I should look at it as what could have been in 1964 rather than trying to recreate 1964.
