In reading from Internet sources, I have found a couple of civilian merchant ships that were purchased or otherwise obtained by the US Navy. They are not yet represented in the game and I wish to bring them into a modded OOB as they were originally at the outset of the war and then upgrade them into their Naval status and armament.

I am not sure which way I should go about it. Should I just upgrade them into the new class or should I withdraw the original ship and then bring it back into the game as the new ship?

Any suggestions or ideas will be appreciated.

You just upgrade them, I'd say. I suspect the difference is armament.
