What Happened to the Global Computer Control Option?

Played the previous version of WitP, and loved it. One of the handiest things to do in that version was to set Computer control to all regions, (via one of the top-bar buttons that displayed selectable Computer controlled global regions), then go through the map and cherry pick the units and TFs I wanted to babysit. Then I would gradually take manual control of more units as the campaign wore on. No, the AI wasn't always the best at handling my forces, but that was far better than me trying to handle it all from the first few turns!
Thus far, I see no provision for such conveniences in the Admiral Edition, other than going through each and every individual TF, unit, group, etc., on the map and manually selecting Human or Computer control, which IMHO, is an extreme annoyance. I filtered through as much of the manual as was practical, but I found nothing helpful.
Did they remove this feature from WitPAE, God forbid? [:(] Or am I missing something terribly obvious. Hopefully, that's the case. Otherwise, if some form of the Global Computer control option is gone, it needs to be reinstated ASAP.
Seriously.
