Would you wait for the first patch

Hi,

I've bought a new gaming rig, running Win 7 64 bit with 6 gb ram, I7 920 and a Nvidia 285 graphic card.

And it seems that the game have some problems with pc's with more cores etc.

So should I wait?

Thanks in advance.
Mark

sounds nice

overall, it looks like the workaround are working for the people reporting troubles

one of the testers had Win 7 and reported it worked

(not sure about the 64 bit part though, maybe wait to see if they are able to help Nemo with his issue)

but it did work with my Vista 64 bit laptop

I had TERRIBLE slowdown, but switching the multi cores down to one solved it...a bit of a ridiculous situation really, but I don't mind as it worked.

that is odd, switching to one core didn't help that much, then I tried two cores and it was fine ?

dang computers will drive you nuts

If I had it to do again, I'd wait for a patch or two (especially as I still have the original games).

I am probably going to wait. I m spending the little free time I have on WitP:AE PBEMs. I foolishly bought War Between the States and haven't been able to read the manual yet. It would be stupid to buy another monster game right now. To be sure, I will buy this game, no question about it. Just not right now. Of course, I consider a patch as a benefit of my my choice.

I also bought Witp:AE and haven't really touched it yet but an old friend has the option of playing PBEM with him in Bob or Witp:AE. So right now its his decision. And like you Valgua, I'm buying Bob no matter what since I'm more am air plane guy [:)]

Not interested in having any input into what goes into the patches....... [&:]

Costs no more and you get an identical product after the patches are applied.

I'm waiting for the patch and more reviews. I shouldn't have to mess with my computer to get this to work afterall it was suppose to be made to work on Vista systems without any issues. Now we have Win7 out and we have to wonder if that's going to be issues with games as well. It doesn't appear developers are keeping up with the times. These issues are springing up everywhere on new games.

It is more that the users are often not up to date with their programms, and also do not know about their computer settings. And if you think Win7 will make it any better.............

I agree with Swift...normally it's users and some obscure setting or a driver.

Also, poor devs (and I mean this)...Visual Studio 2003. Visual Studio 2005. Visual Studio 2008. Visual Studio 2010. Windows Vista...Windows 7!

It's not that easy to keep up with the times! They change very fast. I'm getting more than a little fedup with the new development tools and books I need to buy in order to "keep up"...it's getting expensive

No, I'm not interested in paying to be a part of what amounts to being an extended beta team. And it does cost more. The cost is in extra effort and game frustration and politicking to be "heard." Not to mention on paper at least, my money could do more for me in the interim than it is doing now.

I'd much rather buy a trouble-free and/or playable game. I most often, settle for buying a game and being able to download patches to make it trouble-free and/or playable, when I paid for it. (Generically speaking, no offense intended to the game team specifically).

Wait for the patch Cougar...

Yeah, I think I will.... But let me know if you need a tester with a 64 bit Win 7 and an Intel I7 920 with 8 cores [:)]

Cougar, I have same spec as you.

BTR is running great except for turning on "Highlight Target Damage" slows it down a lot.
Right now you can hit F2 to show only your assigned targets damage and that is a good workaround for the attacker only.

I would wait for more performance issues to be fixed, after that I fully recommend the game. It's very addictive, much like WITP.

HOI III has these same issues with slow down on just about everything out there. I don't see how these games can get out of production with these kinds of issues. Are these developers and publishers using mroe than 10 people to beta test these games anymore? Now we not only have to deal with bugs, crashes and flaws that we regularly get we have to deal with slow game speed as well. Then to add insult to injury having to pay taxes on our out of state purchases as well. I beginning to think it's time for another tea party.

Well I don't know exactly what is causing the slowdown in terms of hardware/software/bugs...but there is a definite link to the Target Damage highlight button.

Like you I wonder...did no-one use Target Damage in testing? It's a very important button.

However, I'll be more than happy with my purchase when this issue disappears.

Glad to hear... I want this game so badly [:)]

I would go ahead and grab it......it is worth the money.......I have no issues running on Vista 64 except the spinning cursor thingy. Seems to run a little too fast for me, the bad guys are over the target before I can even get a/c in the air (yes, I am using the slowest clock setting).
