Error when trying to make own scenario

I've been playing CoI since it came out, and I have had a fair amount of issues concering the game.
This time, for no reason what so ever, the game won't play.
No mods installed, just won't work.
I just get: "One or more of the parameters passed to the function are incorrect".
I have reinstalled the game, but this did nothing.
Another mindgame, Matrix?

Did you uninstall the game?

Tried everything.
Since I bought it, when it was rereleased, I have uninstalled/installed it several times. And it worked fine.
BUT! For some reason, it won't work. I can fidget around and try to fix it like the people at matrix games have told me to do in the past, but to no avail.
And the error message I get should be concise enough; "One or more of the parameters passed to the function are incorrect".
I'm sick of Matrix' buggy games.
Just tell me what might be wrong, I have tried every possible fix.
And I keep getting the feeling that someone is going to ask for my system specs.
Well, screw you, dude. Since it has worked for two years, my specs would be just fine. "Worked" on and off, that is. It is after all a game released by Matrix Games. (Pardon my sharp tongue, it only applies to any person that was going to ask me a bunch of half-retarded standard questions about my "system" and "try running it as 'administrator'".)
Yours sincerely,
//Fritz

oh and I forgot... at what point exactly do you get that error message?
with a name like fritz, you should expect problems.

Are you using custom maps?

Try lowering your screen resolution by a significant amount, it seems it is a standard directdraw error message.

System specs are Microsoft Vista 32x
and a hellova lot of processor power and RAM.
I am using custom maps, yes.
The screen resolution has worked fine the two years I have played it. Perhaps the custom maps?
I get the error message when I press "battlemaker".
Might be the maps?

yes, small maps will require you to lower your screen resolution as stated above.
