It is 9 January 1942, & I have a US sub (cargo capacity 42) at Darwin with orders to load supplies and proceed to Bataan. Darwin has about 10k worth of supplies. The sub has been there four days and has yet to load. What am I doing wrong?

Is the sub docked? Other than that, I wouldn' know.

Well, that would sort of explain things, but last time I checked the sub was docked and all its sailors were getting plastered in various Darwin drinking establishments.

The reason they won't load is Nicole Kidman is down there treating them all with shots and flashing some shin!

Maybe she is there doing that... but "Drover" (Hugh Jackman) is there kicking everyones ass that messes with her... so your sailors are not only drunk, but also in a hospital [;)]
Seriously though, not sure why your sub wont load. I have had problems loading them myself and I think maybe they might need a port of a certain size, not sure though.

I thought about that (port size) & the amount of naval support in the hex. As for the latter, I can't imagine there is not sufficient support with the base force, plus a naval headquarters, in Darwin to load a few crates of canned sardines and .50 caliber rounds on the sub.

Try Disbanding the tf and re-inventing it? Dunno if it will work, but it can't hurt.

I've had a lot of problems getting subs to load remnants of base force units in bypassed bases. I send the sub there on transport mission, arrive at the port, insure the LCU is in strategic mode, and order it to load. I get a message saying something on the lines of "unable to load in TF" or something like that, even though often these base force units only have aviation support or general support squads left. I've picked up AA units with subs, why not these BF remnants?
Yes they were in unrestricted commands too.

For ground units, I think the unit or remnant has to be able to fit inside one sub without leaving anything behind in order to be able to load. I haven't tried multi-sub transport TFs to see if their greater capacity would enable larger units to load.

Rockmedic, you win the cookie. It turns out the sub wasn't docked, after all. Silly me. Thanks for your help.

Can LCU's still be sub transported? I was under the impression that in AE only supplies could be moved by sub.
I never really use sub transport so I haven't checked.

Page 115 in the manual states "yes" for SS carrying ability for troops as well as supplies.
