Operational Losses

As 12th AF, I`m seeing almost 20% operational losses (crashes on the way home and on landing) , in both the Bomb Sqs. and escorts in Italy per mission [X(]

Nothing close to that in 8th. and 9th. AF`s and the Brits.

The only differences I can see is that the 12th. AF are mostly attacking army ground targets who have a lot of Flak and the Sqd`s have low ( below 50 ) morale.

Any idea on what factors the the game uses to determine opps losses, and how to lower them ?

Thanks !

I think you answered your own question.( add fatigue)

At the begin of the game the hot combat zone is Italy......a relative small and narrow combat area with lots of AA and sometimes some heavy enemy reaction.
Your A/C get damaged due to AA fire, enemy fighter attacks and weather effects.......if you fly daily missions you can add morale and fatigue to it.

With regards to the weather - look out especially for very low altitude cloud. There may only be 10-20% coverage, but if it is down at, say, 600 feet or less and over your homebase... fog is, as it was in real life, a killer.

Sadly there is no way for us to incorporate in the game the magnificent Emergency Landing Grounds developed by the RAF at Manston, Woodbridge and (damn, forget the third).

I am usually very reluctant to plot much more than recce when there is fog about.

Weather is the worst enemy in the game

Ah Fido, not only a great name for a dog! [:)]

Fog Intensive Dispersal Operation, used on 15 RAF airfields by 1944 and credited with saving 2486 Allied aircraft by the wars end. Very fuel intensive and if you used it today the tree hugging brigade would slaughter you, although you could always burn baby seals insted!
