Force Pool

Can someone please explain to me how force pools work in the Grand Campaign? I'd like to know what to expect as I approach day two. Thanks.

Can you provide a more detailed answer?  If it is as simple as all your dead will be gone, then why does AB get tanks on day 2 when they didn't have any on day 1.

Clearly Andrew posted your answer at the Pirates of the Caribbean forum!

I was lucky in my GC to have 5 secret C-130's that dropped my tanks in June 7th.

Gz...

Hopefully my oppenent won't notice the M-551's coming at him day 2!

A new feature introduced in tLD is that historical reinforcements can be modelled ( to a certain degree)

IE the AB historically had tanks arrive via glider after the initial landings.... they weren't available the first night.

Note: This is reinforce without having to hit a reinforce button (not used in tLD)

You will see some Stuarts arrive for the Brit. 69th Brigade on Day 2 as well.... as a few others.

Presumably units may be withdrawn too? This might mean that they inexplicably disappear despite not having been casualties.

This is now possible with the engine upgrade.

I don't think it has been implemented though in tLD, but could be used by a modder if he chose to.

Hello Pz,

This will be an update in progress:

Day 2 (Line vs Line)
Version: 5.50.01b

501,502,506 of 101st: 2 Stuarts

505 of 82nd :nothing new yet
507,508 of 82nd : 2 M4A1

8,12 of 4th : 1 Cmd M4A1, 4 M4A1, 2 M10, 2 M5A1
22 of 4th : 1 Cmd M4A1, 4 M4A1

16,18,26 of 1st : 1 Cmd M4A1, 4 M4A1, 2 M5A1, 4 3in at-guns

115,116,175 of 29th : 1 Cmd M4A1, 4 M4A1, 2 M5A1

Somethg interesting happens here:
There is no longer a position in force pool for Centaur, AVRE and Crab. So have them in your fav 15 or lose them!

Canadian:
7,8 of 3rd : 3 Sherman V, 1 Firefily, 3 Stuart V
9 of 3rd : 4 Cmd Sher V, 8 Sherman V, 4 Firefly, 3 Stuart V, 4 Wolverine
(turns into the same force pool as 185/3 Brit tank wise)

British:
8 of 3rd : 3 Sherman V, 1 Firefly, 3 Stuart V
9 of 3rd : 3 Cmd ShermanV, 6 ShermanV, 3 Fireflys, 3 Stuart V
69 of 50th : 3 Sherman V, 1 Firefly, 3 Stuart V

5th PARA/6thAB : 1 pesky Tetrarch

aha.. it has been implemented in tLD... I knew that.

Interestingly though the Centaurs served in France for two weeks before being withdrawn  and sunk in the Orne to be used as Bailey bridges.

This was very useful info panzerlehr62.
I am going to keep my "Hobart Funnies" in active service as long as I can, rather than have them taken away. I've already lost a couple of Centaurs and Crabs on the beaches though!

I also noticed Commando infantry units disappearing from some battlegroups.

Has anyone spotted other units that automatically get removed from the OOB?

Np.

German teams vanishing is somethg ive experienced too. It's happened in every GC ive played, so I guess its just part of the game. It mainly seems to effect the smaller BGs, have not seen the larger ones lose anythg yet. Its always a good idea to name all your current teams and also keep tabs on your force pool numbers as well.

Looking at the data it doesn't look like any german teams are removed... unless I've missed something.

The funnies and commandos were/are designed to be removed as they were historically re-assigned... but you can keep them in your active BG if you don't release them

I believe Concord and panzerlehr62 are referring to two different things. There are units that are removed from the force pool, just as there are units added to the force pools depending on day and difficulty. This is what Concord is seeing and as Andrew explains, this is normal.

Panzerlehr62 is referring to units in his 15 team active battle group disappearing, which, if failing memory serves, was either an early bug that was corrected or the result of using old saved game files after installing a patch, which is a Bozo No-No.

In the original CC5, DD Shermans are withdrawn from the force pool by day three, so it always made sense to take all of them prior to that and use them up before drawing on the other Shermans in the force pool.

Hello Drill,

Give you an example I just noticed (today) at the end of my latest turn (turn 9) in the GC vs Feurer Krieg. At Amfreville I had 2 shermans that were used at turn 8. Out of surprise they totally ruled the day during that battle, well guess what, now one of them is missing. No tanks were killed or damaged in that battle. What a bummer too, it had over 20 kills and was well on its way to a few medals. Second time ive seen AB lose a tank like that, other time was in AB OP. We've started with .01B and we've stayed with .01B, so if it was fixed with the .03B or .07B then thats great news. As it is now, we are stuck back in time with the .01B....

My gutt feeling on this problem may be related to Cohesion and may not be a game bug at all. In Op were I noticed it for the first time it happened at Day4, like turn 1. That Bg had been battling the entire time and was pretty much worn out (2 teams were disorganized). Looking at Cohesion of the 507th, the orangish color is at the "CO" letters.

Gz...

I did mention that failing memory, didn't I. [8|] Sometimers or selective memory with a broken selector switch, perhaps.

Teams should not be coming out of active, on map, BG's, so you may be on to a bug unless there is a deeper game feature working there. Of course, it is difficult to say that it is fixed. Ya'll are supposed to be the lab rats! Get that damn GC finished and upgrade!

OK, so it's only the "Funnies" (Centaur, Avre, Crab) and Commandos that are subject to removal (in the purchased version of TLD)?

long time ago, when TLD has been just released, we played H2H, me as German. And somehow, after day one I lost all the AT guns in some BGs defending beaches. I thought it was a bug, but seems it wasnt. I dont rememebr diff level and other circumstances. Certainly, none of the guns were hit.
