Modernizing the Series

I just wish SSG would upgrade the graphics a bit--higher res--and include tooltips. I've loved the system since the original Battlefront for the C64, but man you gotta be more user friendly, especially if you expect to attract more than just the core audience.

If I'm away from the games for more than a month or two, I have to go back to the manual to re-familiarize myself with all the arcane roundels, symbols and the like. I love the detail, but the more recent SSG manuals are not exactly helpful or well organized. I usually go back to the slick, four-color insert "tutorial" manual that came with the original boxed version of Korsun Pocket, which is way better than the official SSG docs.

Of course, I'll buy whatever they release, improved or not...

Good thing you put in the "or not". This is the engine they have said they will stay with and that leaves the graphics as is.

Have you looked at the manuals for Kharkov? We made quite an effort to improve those and Chris Merchant made some great one page illustrations of some of the more complicated dialog boxes.
