180° how does the game determine the area? recon determined threat axis?
for example i set it to 0 and 180° how does the program know if i want to search 90 or 270ish?
or would that make the game crash? [:D]

Its always clockways. So if u set with left click 270 then right click 90. U search North half aka 270 to 90 in a clockwise motion. 270-280-290 and so on.
If u left click 90 and then right click 270 u search S end in a clockwise motion. 90-100-110 and so on.
Kind regards,
Rasmus

thats great news.
im just digging in the guadalcanal scenario to grab the basics of what changed since stock.
all i can say is wow. AE looks and feels like some guys with a true love for detail, a really fine paintbrush, a microscopic
screwdriver and a pincette went all over WitP (i already noticed the occational sledgehammer but thats a rare event [:D] )
and changed it to something thats...well....WitP was impressive....erm....MOAR impressive?
im turning to be 35 next year and i feel like a small kid under the christmas tree...

And you deserve a tall cold one for it (or two).

Care to tantalize the crowd with a screenshot?

I suppose I could oblige. This is the show all arcs with the Z key. You can also show arcs for individual units as well as all arcs for a given base or TF.

What does the Green, DarkBlue & LightBlue different colors signify?

Looks like this concept has been around for a while!
Lifted from Morison's Guadalcanal book.

Blue is morning search arcs, green PM search. The darker blue and green are naval search and the lighter ASW. You only see what arcs will be covered if all your available planes fly, not what you've set. If your set search area is bigger than what the available planes can do, you will only see what can be covered. If you have a 12 plane unit set to 50% search, you will have 60 degrees covered in the AM and 60 in the PM.
The actual area covered might be less if you have one or more planes that break down or crash.

Wow, screenshot looks awesome.
I'm discovering how important searching is for pretty much everything, this will be a massive help.
Thanks!

Internally, when we were discussing UI improvements for patch 2, this was at the top of just about everyone's list. I think everyone was feeling the pain.

Is there any advantage (except for fatigue and ops losses) in limiting the range of a search? For example, does a plane whose maximum search range is 14 gain any advantage if it limits its range to 7 for searching purposes or is it chances to find anything the same.
