Wacht am WINE

This subject was touched on at the CSO before its shutdown.

I have finally managed to find the time to install Ubuntu + Wine (they've changed its name) on a rig with enough grunt to do it justice. I'm not having much success though and I wonder if that's because I've installed the 64 bit version of the distro. 64 vs 32 bit problems are alluded to at WineHQ.

Has anyone any experience of this?

So far my problems have been problems with the graphics. An annoying blinking and moving sprites don't erase the old ones. I always assumed this was because I have used a windows host and used VMware Workstation for Ubuntu and wine.

Andrew, seems a little bit a problem with Wine and the new releases of CC. I have checked with a virtual xp machine running on a windows 7 host with no problems. And because Wine is no emulator I can imagine that due to the way the overlays are done for sprites that there might be a problem with this.

The problems I was having were similar to Berndn's. It may be that a powerful graphics card is actually a hindrance (?)
