Hi,

I am planing my missions but as I am not a specialist in military hardware, I have absolutely no idea of the right plane to pick for a given mission and I don't find help in the game (i even don't see information saying wether a given plane is a bomber or a recon plane or other like fighter etc ...). I even don't see the full name of the stuff so an't do some searches. I just see logos like bf, he, ju, etc which i don't understand. I don't find the info in the manual...

Any suggestion?

thanks

did you look at the weapon database at the top of the screen ?

it has 3 buttons, for

Allied
Axis
Ground

or the unit page, at the top it lists the type of plane is in that unit ?

Well, how did you get the second picture (17 gruppo CT) ? I cannot find this screen with such details. Regarding the weapon database, can I access it when preparing my mission i.e. from the bombing mission screen after having clicked the "pick lead unit" button ?

for the unit page, I had the Axis side open ?

for the unit page, go to summery page, at the top is the button to look at the OOB

scroll down the list of the commands (open the command to see what is inside of that command)

click on a unit, at the top will be details, click on that, and it brings up the unit page)

no, those pages are not linked to the plot mission, but once out of the plot mission part it is

yea but, if you click on plot bombing missons, then pick lead, it will bring up a list of bombers ?

click on add bombers, it will show the bombers that could join the mission

click on Add fighters, it will show a list of fighters that can join the mission ?

This is what we need in a booklet form. Make it a small one with one of these per page or slap 3 or 4 per page in a larger format, with the pictures of the planes in colour of course! [:)]

If you guys mean just detailed a/c stats (with all the gun data, bombloads etc), I'd take a stab at it. Have most of this data already extracted/organized and was slowly tinkering with an excel version. Switching to photoshop & PDF won't be too tough. I think.   And if it is like I said, an excel version...

If you mean squadron info, I must defect to the wait and want team. [:D] Seems utterly futile to do by hand since the info will be obsolete within a couple game days for most units. That, after tediously extracting by hand data on hundreds of units in game.

Even if you had freely exportable data, and an external program to organize it in similar displays for each squadron, you'd be running the printer around the clock trying to stay "current".

A couple interface improvements I would suggest to make the in-game data more easily accessible: add a hot key for the "details" page, and on the details page, make it a two pane window. The current on the left, the Pilot list on the right, so we can have it all up in one go. (Failing that, a hot key for the pilots page too [:)]).

I'd love it if you could mock this up in MS paint - I'm not sure what you mean.

Something like this maybe: Screen the detail panel normally appears on, it moved left.

I know this has been asked before but how do you know the best altitude to do certain missions per plane?

I have to do it by research and trial and error.

Baron Von Beer i like your idea of listing unit and pilots in the same screen, less buttons is a good add to the game.
