Bailing Out Crews

In a previous incarnation of Steel Panthers, there was a key that enabled one to voluntarily abandon a vehicle or crewed weapon. It seems to be missing in SPWAW 7.1. I've searched the manual and the help screen but can't find it. Has this been abandoned in version 7.1? I had a tank in the front line get immobilized with lots of Russian infantry closing in and wanted to abandon the tank and withdraw the crew, but couldn't do it. Thanks.

I usually weld my tank hatches shut from the outside once the crews are in. Kinda the same idea as WWI Royal Air Corps - if you don't have a parachute (or can't get out of your tank) your much more likely to take care of it properly! Hah!

Jokes aside - I rarely bail my crews. Might be because they stick around 'til they brew completely...

I read in a couple places that the Japanese used wire to lock the canopies on some planes used by kamikaze pilots.

Tracer: I never heard of Japanese wiring the canopies shut, but I do know that they only put enough fuel in the plane for a one-way trip!:D

I have heard a story about the Kamikaze pilot who strafed his commanders house on the way out because he just plain didn't like him LOL

On the more serious side, there ARE Kamikaze pilots that survived their missions and still today live a life incognito. They still can't cope with the shame of 'failing' their task. Many survived due to engine breakdowns, navigation errors, flak (ditched in the sea before being able to arm the thing), and ofcourse desertion.
