Engineering Vehicle Shortage

Hello folks. I am playing the stock 01 scenario as the Japanese and have not seen any engineering vehicles produced after a month of production.

The pool remains empty (despite it saying that 100 per month should be produced) and units that have lost vehicles are thus going without. Anybody else seen this? Is it a priority issue (i.e. vehicle points have run out before getting to them?)

My vehicle production is nearly doubled since the start and I am not noticing any other equipment shortages.

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Von;

I can only recommend that you make sure you set replacements to "OFF" globally for the first few months and turn them "ON" in the specific units you want to have the engineer vehicles. The total number of vehicles seems fine to me, but at the start of a game the base forces in the USA alone would drain those produced for many months. When you need engineers in Suva it stinks to have them building a golf course at Fort Ord!

All the best

Thanks Gary. I will try reducing replacements in the non-engineering units again. Perhaps there is a production priority that I am missing.

I had replacements off for the first week and still saw no new engineering vehicles produced (managing the Japanese production). Maybe one of the Japanese production gurus will appear in this thread and provide some additional insight. [&o]

Japanese only build what is needed and in the case of ‘Engineer Vehicle’ provided they have enough supply at base, enough vehicle assembly pts and manpower pts. I turned off replacements for all units except one, it needed 6 so during replacement phase it built 6 and used 2 because of randoms (you’ll always get at least 1 regardless of randoms). Once a unit gets replacements it has to wait a few days (variable) before it can get anymore, rest mode helps with reducing the wait.

Could you clarify the above two quotes as I do not exactly understand, but I'd like to comprehend that process better?

Deca, he is referring to the "random number" of vehicles drawn from the replacement pool and actually "sent" to the unit in need. In this case he is saying that it could have been anywhere from a minimum of one to a maximum of six (maybe- I'm not sure what the max. is)

In either case, I am guessing the reason I haven't seen any built during my game thus far is that it is a combination of priorities, rest and supply levels (I have had plenty of spare vehicle points but my units in need haven't set still long enough in good supply to "request" replacements).

Thanks to all the help. I'll keep waiting to see the first bulldozer built. (It is a darned shame that I can't use any of the captured dutch tractors in the DEI!!! [:(] - Alas, maybe in version 2...) [;)]

Deca - what vonTirpitz said is correct. Japanese are different from allies they only build what they need so just because it says 100 does not mean you get 100 per month automatically like allies.
Max was 6 because that is what the unit needed. Once a unit gets replacements it has to wait a minimun of 3 days before it can get anymore unless you are in rest mode which reduces the wait to 1 day.
Try turning all replacements off except for one unit in need and see what happens.
