Irrational British ship behaviour

Easily reproducible. Start up a scenario 6 head-to-head. As Japs, do nothing except stand down all your air units. As Allied, stand down all air and disband all TFs in Hong Kong. Create a single-ship bombardment TF of the DD Scout and order it to bombard Canton, retirement allowed, direct, absolute threat. Create another bombardment TF with the other undamaged DD, and have it bombard the rail hex next to Hong Kong with all the Jap units in it, same settings.

When you run the turn, the DD will bombard the rail hex but will stay in the hex despite the retirement allowed setting. The DD Scout will not do anything, just sit there in HK. When you run another turn with no orders/changes, the Scout will finally go to Canton and either bombard or eat a mine, and return to HK. The other DD will return to HK at this time too. I believe if everything was WAD, both ships should have bombarded on the first turn and returned on the first turn.

Looks like a variant of the bombardment mission issue that was present in the initial release. Similar behavior anyways. I thought that this was fixed in patch 1. If not good catch.

Has this bug ever been fixed? I gave up on WITP AE for a while hoping that bugs like this will eventually be fixed, but maybe the game is still too buggy for my taste.

This is a first turn thing as there is only one TF move phase on turn 1.

I tried the same thing on turn 2 and it works as expected.
