I have 20'000+ HI points in my pool. I don't expand anything during the turn.

I have ZERO HI points in my pool, again I didn't expand anything.



HI Point use is about 14000 points per turn.

Tracker reports that I only produced about 10'000 points on the 4/1 turn (Tokyo was out of resources[8|]), but that should still leave about 16'000 points in the pool.


What is going on?

Attached are the relevant saves. Just change the extensions back to pws.


EDIT: I can confirm that this is happening at each beginning of a new month. If you wish I can send you the other save files as well (except Dec to Jan).

Known: Pilot training takes HI on the first of the month. I'm planning on putting it in Tracker sometime.

On the first of each month you are charged HI for each pilot in the training pool. Don't remember exactly how much per pilot but it is at least 10k HI points at the beginning. Later in the game it becomes much, much worse due to the increase in pilot training.

HINT: don't expand industry for at least a month to allow a pool to build up; HI quickly disappears when you expand shipyards and armaments

Thanks. Though I did wait to expand Ship building and Armaments until February. So switching off some Armaments is the way to go.

However, the charge seems to amount to 35k points per month, i.e. about 7% of total production. Isn't this a bit steep?

HI used is 5 per pilot per month.

Still 35K seems a little high, but I expect in the 20K + range

I have 7200 pilots in the pool so the observed drop would correspond to 5HI per pilot being charged.

Does anyone know what the effects are if there aren't enough HI points to cover pilot training? I had way too few HI points at the end of March.

I believe that it will drain the lot, and then those pilots which don't have HI to cover will not get trained ... haven't tested that yet ... maybe a DEV will come along and confirm my logical analysis.

I agree, 35K Hi per month seems like a bit much! Would rather see a flat rate of 20K per month. Also if it comes down to pilot training or production, the player should have control over Hi usage, ability to turn off pilot training just like industry!
