Inefficient Guadalcanal subs after patch?

Playing Guadalcanal scenario
Now it´s November 30, 1942.

Played the scanario before the patch - acts OK.

But since I patched it there are extremly less (maybe 7 or 8) attacks of my allied subs to 11/30/1942. [&:]
The japanes TF´s rattle always right over my sub/hex without been scratched. [:@]

Historic or a game issue?

And if it´s an issue it din´t bother japanes subs sinking my TF´s.

Have you upgraded them with Radar?

Ups, surprise, surprise - how that? [X(]

And as I said, my subs weren´t so lazy before the patch.

Honestly, my opponent's subs just had 3 attacks in a row those last 2 turns (Sculpin fires and hit (dud) a japanese sub and a japanese DD, + greeling fires and sinks a japanese TK), I am not sure they are THAT lazy...

My subs are behaving as I would expect in my PBEM games that I'm playing at present. Were as my USN subs have being getting a lot of shots in, just about all the hits have been duds, which is exactly what I would expect. Your Sub commanders have a lot to do with your boats attack behavior, so be sure to pick them carefully.

Hi Templer.

I like to pick sub commanders with leadership and aggression of over 50, I find that this helps with the subs finding and attacking targets. I have also found that high aggression (say around 70) can be a drawback in the early war for USN Sub commanders. Because a commander with very high aggression, and getting dud hits with his torpedoes, will surface and have a gunfight with some heavily armed transports.

I also like to set my subs on patrol lines of say 5x hexes, or about 1x days steaming across. I set them across direct routes between the Japanese bases, and I don't like choke points as thats where his ASW assets will be.

Here is a screenshot of one of my Sub setups.

Hi DivePac88,

thanks for the beginners support, the advice and the very informative information.

And thanks for the work you've done here.

I´ll try out your tipps.

Never cared about the sub commanders raitings yet.
Allways accept the choice of the AI.
