Targets

okay just in case

unless I had info, knowledge about targets, I left what was in the old game alone, or what JC had added

we got a lot of good info on stuff, from OB, DBS and Speedy, and more from some of the newer testers, so were able to revamp a lot of England

but, in the long run, that means there may be a lot of places that are not in the right place, are not the right target type, spelled right, or, what have you

if we can, I am willing to try to fix/correct things (some times, it can be HARD because of placement, stacking and what not, but...)

now starting off

as I didn't think I would have much time for reseach work, last night, I just grabbed a book to have something to read, and it was one of my old ones about Schweinfurt

right away, I noticed a issue, we have 5 BB sites there, according to the bombing plans, there were only 3

Fichtel & Sachs I can understand, I plan to make that a ARM site (late war, it started to do some Bearing work, to help out, but was engine plant before the war)

it is Deutsche Star that is confusing me, I find that it made Kugelhalter's

(which right off the bat, the first name of that STANDS out) do a search, and it basicly means, bearing cage, so if it is making cages for bearings, it should still be seen as part of the BB set up ? (small)

so, planning on making F&S into a ARM site, taking the BB points away and adding them to the 3 site that are correct (the sizes of the other BB sites, are based on the size of Schweinfurt) and leaving Deutsche Star as a smaller BB site

work on the placements of the sites also

does that make sense ?

Hard Sarge, <S>

Yes it does make good sense.

I have a question somewhat related. Just to make sure I am clear because I think I may be misunderstanding a fundamental premise of the targets. The value listed as "Capacity" do all those of each target type sum to 100? IE = 100% of the capacity of that target type in the game. If this is incorrect what is the value I shoud be looking at?

Not certain about the question, Sarge. But I worked with Star and they've been making BBs for like a century. Not just tracks, cages, whatever. There definitely needs to be a Star BB plant somewhere in there.

Maybe plants were split apart because they were large? Make it more difficult to knock out the area in a single strike?

glad it makes sense to someone, most times I know what I am thinking but nobody else does :)

No

that is the size of the site, how much it makes in a day

it is easy with something like a engine plant, a oil plant or a fuel site, gets HARDer to follow

but, say you have a size 10 EFAC, that basicly should mean, that plant can make 10 engines a day (depending on other things, but if all rolls are good, it will make 10 engines)

now that big Rubber plant, I am not sure how the game works it, but it is much more then 60 pieces of rubber

okay, reworked the Schweinfurt area some

F&S is a 12 Arm site
KGF is a 45 point BB site, moved to the west and north (so west of the city)
VKF # 1 is a 24 point BB site, moved between KGF and the City
VKF # 2 is a 14 point BB site, moved south west of the city (basicly where KGF was)
D Star moved south of city

still not the best placement, but most of these should be right with the City Icon, so got to have a little leeway

which to the good, I won the Intro campaign, only the 2nd time i have ever won it (first time was the first time I ever ran it in BTR, and have lost every follow up try since !!)

it was a smaller plant, and by the targeting, it wasn't even part of the target run the first time though, as I see, it makes some kind of bearings, but wasn't in the plans as a "major" part of the target (F&S will start making bearings later in the war, but at the time of the first raid, it was importent, but not for bearings)

I rely on Wiki in regard to Schweinfurt and German ball bearing industry, so can't contribute much to historical research here. But Deutsche Star was a Kugellagerfabrik or Wälzlagerwerk (not 'Kugelhalter', which would translate to some sort of ball holder or punching tool).

so the capacity of a factory site decides how many different parts it can produces and the
size of the site decides how much it makes a day? Or what is the difference between capacity and size?

Capacity = Size

In a more specific sense. Capacity = The maximum number of Units that Fab could produce in One Day. The larger the Capacity therefore the Larger the relative Size of the Fab.

What I am looking for is a value in the game that Directly Represents % of they type of industry.

For Example: I was mistaken but..... I though that the Capacity was the % that particular Fab represented of that entire Industry in the Game. IE: An AFAC that had a capacity of 4 represented 4% of the total AFAC in the game. But I am wrong as Hard Sarge pointed out.

So my question is.... is there a value in the game that is directly proportional to the percentage a Fab represents in the overall industry of that type of Fab.

If not then I can calculate my own for each industry, build a spreadsheet and Pareto it. I can then share it with the community and we will all know.

Hi

I was born near Schweinfurt and lived there for about 40 years. My Grandmother told me about the attacks in 1943 and 44. The bomber crews threw out the empty cartridges, when they were on the way back. They fell on the roofs of our town and made a lt of noise. My friend´s father was in the Hitlerjugend and served as a gunner in a Flak unit in Schweinfurt.
I think Kugelfischer was the biggest BB plant in Schweinfurt. The second was VKF (now SKF).
There were some smaller plants in little towns east of Schweinfurt (Eltmann, Ebern) too.

Fichtel&Sachs produced engines and clutches during the war:

KayBay;

Just an example of my methodology...
Current game situation

Tgt Type: EFAC
Number of Targets: From the "Set Targets" Display = 32 locations
Capacity: 1500 (Is not a simple summation)
% Damage: 2%

From list Targets, EFAC:
click, Last Photo: 5x None (Recon these)
click, capacity: top ten, 15,10,10,10, 8, 8, 8, 8, 8, 8 = 93

Knocking these out wouldn't really hurt production, quickly! This would be a longer mini-campaign.

Tgt Type: VFAC
Number of Targets: From the "Set Targets" Display = 15 locations
Capacity: 473 (Is not a simple summation)
% Damage: 17%

From list Targets, VFAC:
click, Last Photo: 1x None (Recon this)
click, capacity: top ten, 20,10,6,6,4,2,2,2,2,2 = 56

Knocking out the top four will drastically curtail production, and keep the politicians out of my hair.

I use these two as extreme examples, but check out CHEM and RUBBER.

words

Cap is how much a site makes (so a 8 AFAC would make 8 frames a day)

Size is mainly used that the player can see, in Ports, Area and RR targets, is more a size of the target, for Population

(RR can have a Cap and a size, a Area, can have either both, or just size, then it does not show on the map, other then in the Urban mode)

now, there is also size that the player don't see, which is the size of the target, Radar and Power are small targets, so a smaller size, they are HARDer to hit, but easier to damage if hit

my bad for talking in General terms

Hey Hard Sarge,

I was checking out the photo's Misty linked and found one showing all the Fabs oriented with the RIVER....

Are you sure you have them all properly oriented with the river???

LOL I just had to Sarge.. just had to... LOL [:D][:D]
