Right, so we are now:

Seems everyone but me, and maybe Flaviusx, are Americans. This is a bit of a problem. Normally it will work fine, but during weekends, when there's a good chance of a more intensified play for most concerned, we'll have a huge time lag, forbidding more than a few turns anyway.

Therefore, maybe we should wait and see if we can get together at least two teams, one consisting of Americans and one of Europeans.

Anybody with an interest, please say so. State where you're from.

Well, I'm in East Coast Australia (timezone UTC-10 hours) and I'm in a V1.5 pbem with a Quebecian (Kaybecker?). The time difference means that we get max four gameturns on a weekend (His Sunday, my Monday) but that's usually OK because he has a wife & family.
It's not a continuous process by any means, but it CAN work. Don't know how well it would go with a third player but it's my first ever pbem so I'm happy to be a bit slow.
 
So far, we're up to GameTurn 71. Took a long time to chase France and England out of Europe. The AI SovUnion attacked Bulgaria in October 40 and I stopped them at the gates of Koenigsburg. (This should probably go in the AARs, so I'll stop there.)
 
I hasten to add I'm not angling to join up, just sharing my experience about timeshifting (and frankly, wanting to establish that there's another continent to be considered, apart from America and Europe.)

Should have said "on a weekend day" - we get more than four turns in over the whole weekend! Sometimes three on a weekday, too.

Why, two players are rather okay. I played a test with GW some week ago and that was no problem.
 
But we're aiming at six players. Since Flaviusx is also an American, it wouldn't be much of a problem with me being in Europe, though. I can play while the yanks sleep. But with two Europeans, we had to have the turns "next" to each other.
 
And now we also have Keensy. Let's see if anybody more shows up. [:)]

I'm in the US and haven't played a PBEM for ages but I'm up for this one.

Don't do anything as yet. Let's see how many we can get.

I've been thinking more about it and it strikes me that 5 players probably is the best solution. Thus it would be:

Germany
Italy and Axis minors
UK
USSR
France/USA

Having different players for France and USA leads to one going out early and the other coming in late. Might just as well be the same player. If so, we only need two more to have two teams. I can probably provide a second Swede.

But first we need some help with the Flaviusx-crash. [;)]

Some of the names here are well known to me. Others are more obscure. It would be nice to have a hint of how familiar you are with this or other similar games. It would likewise be of interest how old you are and what in general is your occupation. I myself am 49, Swede, and a military writer and salesman (Photographics). I have played games since the early eighties, from board games to the present computer games. How about you, guys?

Am 34, i live in Québec city.Am a CNC metal brake operator.I have been playing wargames for 20 years, learn it from playing Axis&Allies boardgame.

I would like to play Great Britain.

I'll play Italy and the smaller axis countries.

I am 64, still programming computers, but looking toward retirement. I have been playing wargames since about 1960. I came into RtV and ToW from exposure to RtV when playing John Tiller's Campaign Series, and have been happy with the product from the beginning. I have done AARs, and tested the games, for quite awhile.

I am flexible on nations, but if I can have France, (Benelux), USA then I will play them. I think the Benelux nations need a human lest they go down too fast.

I think I can add Mille, the tenth player, without having consulted him yet. He's a Swede too. Personally I rather have UK this time (haven't played that for a while) and then it will be smart to let Mille be France/USA, placing our turns next to each other, reducing "lag" in the first 50 game turns. We have to play in the same group, of course.

This is good, since the game will be rather well spread between USA and Europe, reducing unnecessary time loss. Let's fix this setting for the moment.

Even the second group should thus be ready, lest GW and 17, which haven't choosen their roles yet. It does point sharply towards GW being Uncle Adolph, though. This group will be (almost) all American.

You're right regarding the neutrals. It will be much more interesting if they're controlled to some extent. I think I have a solution for them as well as the problem with player 3 controling both France and USA (thus creating 6 turns).

When UK start his turn, he use F11 to access "cheats". There he deduct 3000 PP from USA, Belgium and Netherlands. This way he prevents the AI from doing anything particulary stupid with these nations. They are then left to the AI. Once in a while, though, the UK player uses the F11 key at the beginning of the UK turn to activate B and N for movements. When these countries are due, the turn will head back to the UK player and he can add 3000 PPs, buy whatever he opt for (he still needs to keep at least 3000 PPs in the account), moving desired units, and then deduct 3000 PPs again. In the next UK turn the AI is switched back on. I think we could do this once every third month.

Regarding USA, the French player does the same as the UK player above, buying units, adding research, and then switch back to the AI again in his forthcoming French turn. Once France is out of the game, the French player switch over to USA for the duration of the game. The only problem I can see with USA is Lend Lease. But maybe we can just let the USA player move a token of PPs by using F11. Not really top notch, but better than having 6 instead of 5 phases each game turn. We could have a 20 % penalty to simulate Atlantic losses.
