Crawling Death
How Lice Thwarted Napoleon's Invasion of Russia
By Frank Thadeusz

I would post the short article here, but copyright restrictions prevent me from doing so. Please see this incredibly fascinating article. It is interesting to note that the British navy had only recently gotten Typhus under control and were known for their incredibly clean ships. Typhus (spread by body lice) had been a major problem for naval operations until the late 1700s and even later for non-British navies.

Somewhere out there is an old book called Rats. Lice and History.  It's essentially a biography of typhus as it relates to the history of Europe and I have little doubt that this was a significant factor often ignored in the general accounts of the day.  Interesting read, thanks for the link but let's hope that in CoG-EE game terms, there is no movement towards a seperate "Typhus Level" in any attrition formula!

I think every province should be rated for its "Rat Factor." Course some players could ALSO be rated for that factor [:D]

Easy to understand why when you read some of the bizarre medical theories of the day which had no basis in reality.
