Retreats

<I apologize in advance if this is not the correct forum>

Why is it that it could take my troops a handful of days to march to a hex to attack someone, I beat them, and they get an immediate retreat to an adjacent hex that it will take me a handful of days to march to, to do it again?

If troops are throwing away equipment to retreat faster, then they might eek out x2 movement, but this just seems skewed.

They should start to retreat to a hex, and I should be able to pursue them to hit them again before they get settled.

(I've only been playing for 2 weeks, so I may be completely wrong. [8|])

Thanks

I think you can use your reserve units to pursue, at least there is pursue option.

It's a limitation in the ground combat routines that we inherited from WitP (and UV). We looked into changing it, but it would have required a redesign of land combat from the "ground up". The risk and time cost outweighed the benefits.

None of us are thrilled with the land combat routines as they are now, but it's about the best we could do.

Thanks for the replies.

Ground combat is secondary (or tertiary) to me anyway. I want carrier v. carrier, and surface v. surface battles anyway. It's just hard to ignore the chinese and still get good take out! [:D]
