just downloaded COTA

hi all,
downloaded COTA and tried to play some of the battles but it says i need a newer version of COTA ! [&:]
Now, problem time, i downloaded the patch and it froze the game totally ! [:@]
any ideas please on what i have done wrong and need too do ? [&o]

Firstly, you'll probably be asked what the specifications of the machine you are trying to install it on. Secondly, whether you have read the installation readme (there is one, IRC).

thanks for replying,
download patch is working.....???? i think ? got the matrix thing at the begining which i didnt have before. lol
there are 3 missions that will not load ;
bir el gubi
elasson (both of them)
as i mentioned before, it says; senario file needs newer version of cota.
my pc is vista, loads of memory and graphics card is top notch.
i right clicked icon and went to properties and set it for windows xp 2.
now i am stumped !
P.S....installation readme ???? where is that ? lol

Welcome. Can you please clarify some things for me.
Can you open any other scenario?
If so, what version number appears at the bottom right of the battlemap? The latest version should be 3.4.151.

Hi Dave,
right sir, firstly, i can open all the other missions !
secondly, the number in the corner says 3.0.126 !
i downloaded COTA on friday last but it stopped so i re-downloaded it on saturday which worked (ish)

great, i downloaded the patch that says 3.4.151 or whatever it was and now bugger all will play ! [:@]
seems i wasted nearly £50 on something that does not work !!!! [:@]

PB,
Rest assured the game does work. I suspect that your original game or the patch did not download properly. I recommend you uninstall everything and reinstall, first the game and then the patch #4 ( ie v3.4.151 ). BTW this is a comprehensive patch, so you don't need any of the intervening ones.
Step 1 Reinstall the game.
Step 2 Verify that the scenarios you previously had problems with actually work.
Step 3 Install the Patch #4
Step 4 Verify the scenarios work.
Please get back to me and let me know you went. Don't worry we'll get you back up and playing COTA.
