Hi y'all.

I'm trying to build a scenario in the caribbean battleset. All the bases listed are in places like northern U.S. or Japan, Europe etc..
Am I just missing something really simple here, because I can't create a single base...

The official database predates the expanded battlesets, and thus doesn't cover places like the Caribbean, South America and much of Africa beyond the Mediterranean. For those areas, you need to use another database. I created the HCDA (HCE Americas Database) for exactly that reason. You can find it at HarpGamer.

Uhhh... It says scenarios for EC2003 and Westpac will not work with this. Am I going to screw something up by installing it?

Let me explain this again, from the top:

Stock scenarios that come with HCE and are found in all battlesets - excepting EC2003 and Westpac - use a 'built in', non-editable database. You don't need to worry about swapping that one.

The stock scenarios that come with HCE and are found in the EC2003 and Westpac battlesets require that you have the official HCDB database installed. This is the one that gets updated regularly, with the downloads being posted at HarpGamer.

Other, user created scenarios which might be for the EC2003, Westpac, Caribbean, Middle East, or other custom built battleset will require whatever database used to create that scenario. I put together the HCDA, for example, to use with scenarios that might be built for North, Central and South America.

Swapping databases is easy. Just unzip the database file to your HCE main directory and overwrite the 'commondb.res' file found there.

Example:

I want to play (or build) a scenario for the Caribbean Basin Battleset. I download and unzip the HCDA database to my HCE main directory. It overwrites the existing 'commondb.res' file. Then, when I'm done, I want to go back to playing a stock EC2003 scenario that came with the game. I download the latest HCDB database and unzip that to my HCE main directory. Again, it overwrites the 'commondb.res' file and I am back in business.
