A suggestion for search arcs

Search arcs.
Why not add the possibility of using random search arcs within a specified larger arc?
For example, a squadron with 6 planes available for search is set to search a 180º arc.
Each plane searches one 10º arc.
They can never search the whole arc, the last 60º would never be searched.
So if you wanted to search the whole 180º you would have to adjust the search arc every day.
Leading to more micromanagement...[:(]
But if you could somehow tell them (preferably by the push of a button...[;)]) to distribute their 12 daily 10º search arcs randomly across the full 180º arc, then you would avoid having to adjust the search arc.
Leading to less micromanagement...[:)]
The search will of course not be a complete 180º search, it would be full of holes!
But it would be an interesting alternative to the current model and one that I know I would use a lot.
This could be implemented in several different ways, of course.
Apart from the above example, where all 12 10º search arcs were distributed randomly, you could have them distribute in daily or half-daily clusters.
Example:
Day 1: 10º to 130º is searched.
Day 2: 60º to 180º.
Day 3: 30º to 150º.
And so on in a random pattern...
Lots of possibilities here.
