Hi,
I know this isn´t the right threat to aks this but I don´t know another way where I can ask.
For a few years Matrix announced two games like CC.
the first was "Combat Leader" an turnbased game with CC3 style.
the second was "Close Assault" an RTS like CC.
Does anybody know what is happend with these two games?
thx for help[&o]

Good questions. I was interested in these too. If memory serves me right then were proposed after Atomic withdrew from Close Combat the first time i.e. after original CC V. They were obviously low priority projects and seemed to stagger from pillar to post accordingly. [Cynicism]I have come to believe that that is normal for any game project which interests me.[/Cynicism]
The coup de grace came with the advent of one of the 3D games (Panzer Command maybe?) which was offering a similar scope in 3D.
I know not how similar they would have been to Matrix' current "Heroes of Stalingrad" project.

QUOTE BELOW:
At the Wargamer there is a interview with David Heath...

Here is the part concerning Combat Leader:
WG: Some have classified a few of your games in development as vaporware. Can you tell us something about those designs and how you moved from there to your present level of success?
DH: First, taking a lesson learned from our first game, I now no longer believe that release dates are important, and they will never be a driving force at Matrix. The designers or developers can take the time they need to get the game the way they need it and want it. I know we sometimes take some heat from the community saying that we are delaying games, but I believe it’s the right way to bring games into being.
I am sure Combat Leader comes to mind as a game that we had in development for a long time and I just pulled the plug on. But even in this case it allowed us to play with the design and in the end decide it was not want we wanted. [...]
As far as Combat Leader is concerned, we all put a lot of ideas and effort into this project and we have a lot of great game parts but they do not fit well together in the end. We are talking to a few people and I think we have some new news on that front in the not to far future.
Sad news, if I get this right...
