* by my A/F's what does it mean again??

Ok I know it is on the manual but I'm at work and all [:D]
What does the asterisk mean by my AF's? I take it over crowding. Seems to be group related rather than # of A/C. Is this correct. If so what is the logic behind this? Seems I tend to get a number of written off A/C and crashes on landing. Makes sense if the field are littered with A/C parked everywhere.

You have too many units and/or planes there; it's overstacked. Probably units, I find I max out on that first.

1 unit per A/F size

How do I get rid of all those 3 planes groups? How does one combine them more efficiently? Thanks

News to me, I thought it was airframes-and THAT was based on # of engines vs airfield size (size A/F*40 or 50?).

Air support/vs aircraft is straight one-to one ratio, and has to do with how many planes can be reasonably kept airborne.....

I don't recall ever reading that it was based on # of units, is this something I've overlooked????

hmmm it seems to be I think # of groups also? not sure though.

FTM:  An airfield can operate 50 single engine (or 25 two engine, or 12 four engine) planes per AF size or 1 group per AF size.

50 power plants per AF level.  In addition, aircraft at rest or training only apply 1/3 of their engines toward the stacking limits. Probably rounded down.

I thought # of groups mattered little. If I have a size one airfield, I can stow up to 50* (size of airfield) # of engines. Regardless of # of groups or administrative bodies (or so I thought).

Meaning 50 single engine fighters, or 25 2E bombers, etc. etc.

Now Air support, which governs practical use of those airframes, I thought was a 1-1 ratio. 200 air support means I can potentially (limited by # of engines practicably stowed at that base) operate 200 PLANES, regardless of number of engines (subject to point #1).

This all seemed quite logical to me-can someone tell me outright if I'm mistaken?

I'm at work, no manual at hand-and speaking of which....lunch is over.....

Someone please correct my ignorance if it's on display. I didn't think # of actual groups mattered, but planes and engines did.

While we are on the subject, what does this mean? It's lvl 8 AF and I have 19 groups there (please, don't ask why).

Now we have to know why you have so many groups there ![;)]

Administratively, if no HQ's are within range of the base, there is a limit of 1 air group per AF level.  Air groups at rest or training do not count toward the air group admin limit.  If an appropriate HQ is at the base, the command radius is added to the number of air groups supported.  In addition, any base with in two times the radius of an appropriate HQ will add half the radius value (rounded down?) to the number of air groups supported.

To the best of my limited knowledge.

How many groups are training/resting? How many groups are fragmented? Where is the HQ located?

Post a screen shot of the screen with AF level and HQ status.

4 groups are training, there are no fragments, but there are few detachments. There is one 5 radius Air HQ, one 4 radius and one 1 radius present in base. AF 8.

There you go. I just noticed that it says I have 272 planes, but stacking level says 338. Is that the number of engines?

Btw, I could sure use some of your planes in my game. If you would just email some of your extras I would appreciate it[:D]

Hold on a tick. I've found an anomaly on the air groups screens. When tech support comes clean, I shall return!

Yes, the stack level should reflect number of engines. But there seems to be some confusion as to how they are being counted...

Humph. This game will be the death of me. I love it.

@ stuman - You wants my precioussssss? [:-] [:)]

Ok, so I have 101 2E bombers, 8 of which are on training. That's 186 + (16:3) = 191

Plus 171 single engine, of which 38 are training. 133 + (38:3) = 155

191+155= 346, not 338. There are 10 2E and 4 1E in reserve, maybe they count differently?

Still, what does "Base administration: 13 of 12 supported groups" means? That AF can support 12 groups? What is 13 then? And I noticed that you get that line only on overstock
airfields.

How did you get that info about groups and engines in the stack to come up with the base airfield screen? ("Base Administration" and "Aircraft Stack Level")

When I open this screen in my game, I get no such information (and yes, I did install the Beta Patch).

As near as I can tell, the two lines only come up in an overstack condition. It would be nice to know before you transfer in the excess
