Going to start a team and write a story based on there results in game. I was wondering is there a way to print or save ALL of the messages displayed during the battle? That way I don't have to stop in the middle of the game to jot down notes every time something happens.

There is no such an option but it should be possible to press F5 and take screenshots with 'P'. These are saved to data/print folder as battle.pcx and overwritten, so you have to rename or move them before taking another shot.
