What are the normal parameters for a PBEM game?

The normal parameters for a game are whatever is fun for the two players! If you mean what do I like, then:

C&C OFF
Reduced Squads OFF
All Breakdowns ON
National Characteristics ON
True Troop ON/Rarity OFF
Limited Ammo ON
All Settings at 100%
NO Strike Elements
6000-8000 points

That point total might be alot if you are getting used to the game. I recommend a small map (it will give you a choice), with 1750-3000 points to begin with. A good choice to get used to combined arms is the Combat Group under the armor section in the US purchase screen. Don't forget ammo carriers or dumps for your arty, mobile units run out quick. Off board stuff is safer, but can't be reloaded, so use it sparingly. Get an FO or two. Good luck.

Goblin- A Goblin says that'll be $100;)

(the free advice I advertised expired at midnight)

noted, havent tried a limited ammo game yet, will do ti tonight or tomorrow, it think, does this mean i ahve to keep all my front line troops stocked up with ammo?

is it just a case of driving a ammo truck into the same hax and leaving it there for a turn or what?

Nah, don't worry about the front liners - they have plenty of ammo. Look at your tanks though, some models carried relatively few shells, so they might run out. A 'normal' tank carries somewhere in the range of 45-60 AT rounds and 30-40 HE, more than enough to last the battle (they usually get squished before they get to use it all anyway  )

What you DO need to resupply is your onboard artillery, including your AT's in some cases. You don't need to be in the same hex, and adjacent is enough. Trucks or ammo dumps is your choice, trucks are cheaper. Ammo dumps reload faster. Captain Pixel has done some research about this, it can be read in this thread. :)
