The mod itself plays fine and loving it, but there's one thing bothering me very much.

The uniforms.

Everyone, and I literally mean everyone has the same Dark Brown uniform in the game.
SS, Fallschirmjäger, Volks, Airborne and regular US infantry.

Is there any fix for this?

'cause I know some soldiers used winter equipment there. And certainly every unit on both sides not using the exact same uniform.

I have modded all kind of things in this mod for two days readying myself to play the campaign but this uniform issue is the one thing I just can not seem to solve! [:(] I really want to play with at least a lil bit altered uniforms, they wouldn't have to be perfect! [:)]

Ahh, I dug up the Wacht Am Rhein games Uniforms.txt and it worked!!! SS, FJ and VG all have different sets of unis. [8D]

I'll start my Campaign finally. It's so great to play this Classic with a tad better engine and unlocked battle groups.

I don't like Wacht Am Rhein personally so much because it messes up the weapon, unit icon grafix and squad sizes too much for my tastes and I don't have the strength to mod that much. [:D]


Now, if someone has even better/accurate color values for the Uniforms.txt from WaR, I'd be happy to have them. [;)]

I guess I'm just tooo used to stock CC5 (and it's numerous mods) squad sizes (seven-men usually), weapon icon graphics. [;)] Nothing serious. I shouldn't have used "messes up" cause WaR's a stand-alone game and not a mod afterall. [;)]

haha, though my reaction when I saw four-men assault VG unit: [X(] It could be easily modded for personal use, yeah, but I'm very happy with tLD+ClassicCC4 with unlocked battlegroups. Thanks again. [:)][&o]

Noob here-

I agree the mod is really nice, but the same uniform colors is a bummer. When troopsprites get into "close combat" range it's difficult to tell friend or foe and appropriate targets.

Any help in detail on how to edit uniforms would be much appreciated, I've never done that before and have no clue where to start or what program would be used to edit. Thanks a lot.

I have modded the uniforms.txt which I got since my last post quite a bit with the help other mods'/games' color values.

It took much time figuring out the values for each different color.
I did it manually comparing other mods' values. No programs used.

I'll give you some hints.

First of all the CC4Classic DATA folder doesn't have the uniforms.txt file so I recommend copying Wacht Am Rhein's same file there for starters if you have access to that. It gives a good starting point. And maybe the final point if you would be satisfied with its colour values. It at least makes the uniforms totally different.

Secondly, if you do want to mod the values yourself I'll give you a basic breakdown deciphering the values themselves:
An example:

# Nation 0, Style 0 (US Infantry)
0x000000, 0xf9f9f2, 0xf9f6f1, 0xff00fc, 0x060601, 0x0e090a, 0x01fbf9, 0x000000
0x000000, 0xf9f9f2, 0xf9f6f1, 0xff00fc, 0x060601, 0x0e090a, 0xf6f6f6, 0x000000
0x000000, 0xf9f9f2, 0xf9f6f1, 0xff00fc, 0x060601, 0x0e090a, 0xf1f1ee, 0x000000

Each line of code makes for different soldier styles in the class "US infantry"
The uppermost is a rifleman. Ie. Bolt-action. Springfield.
The second is a soldier using automatic or semi-automatic weapons ie. Thompson or Garand.
The bottom one... I don't remember which class.

Then, the little segments:
First 0x000000, I dont know what it is (but the colour value is black),
the second color 0xf9f9f2(dark green?) is the BODY of a soldier
the third color 0xf9f6f1(dark brown?) is the LEGS of a soldier
and the fourth 0xff00fc is the helmet of a soldier

The rest I don't remember for now. [&:]

But this is how I modded the uniforms.txt to my liking. And I hope this helps you.

And by the way. The value for a good white colour is 0x060606, good for Germans. [;)]

If you feel like sending me your uniforms.txt, it would be great to use as a reference, but if its a pain then no worries. Cool that the body, legs, and helmet can be customized...I'm guessing this works for COI as well? Probably a week before I can start editing, but looking forward to it.

@Andrew...the WAR workbook editing works with TLD and also COI?
