Campaign mode possible?

I asked this last year but the post and my account was dubiously deleted.
Can ANY of you Mod wizards produce a campaign mode for this awesome wonderful game, currently it resides as a one-trick pony. Yes with a force pool based on either available units or the successful points system from CCIII?????
God Bless, Cheers!

I think the problem is that saved games are not possible with Modern Tactics. Campaigning, or external campaigning tools like MMCC III, depend on a saved game file to chew on.
Presumably the .exe rewrite isn't worth it, since the fabled Close Combat VI will hopefully combine the best points of all previous versions.

The game does store info on the battle just played, if there was a smart person out there who can decipher as in MMCCIII then I think it would be possible to create a MMCCMT.

The info gets saved in the Close Combat - Modern Tactics\Games\Save\Temp folder, I think it remains in there until you exit the after battle report and then gets deleted. I think this is the file that can be saved then used as a replay, so all the info will be in there if it can be decoded. Even if we could just decode what the result of the battle and the losses

Would be intersting to compare those saves with those of CC3 (CCMT uses a modded cc3 engine)
alt-tabbing out of the game after battle end should allow you to copy those files for later analysis.

I did use a hex editor to look at the temporary file and it means nothing to me. Perhaps TheBlood may know how to decode it. If you can decode it then you would need a program that could do the following in its simplest form creating a CC3 equivalent of an operation:
1. Maintain a database of teams available to the player and AI. This would need to read the red and blue teams files and allow the allocation to be made from there and saved as a 'operation force pool'.
2. Either randomly allocate a linear grid of maps, or allow the user to define the grid.
3. Copy the temp file prior to its deletion and save it to another folder
4. Extract the information from the file that is needed.
5. Reduce the teams available by those lost, and use a decision rule on what to do with teams that have been heavily depleted.
6. Use a decision rule on weather the map was won, lost, or to be replayed, and allocate the appropriate map for the next battle based on this.
7. Request the player to allocate the teams for the next battle based on availability. AI would have to be done on some sort of predetermined force composition based on availability and type (armour, infantry, recce, command etc based on the team file).
8. Write a scenario file.
With my limited knowledge I think only steps 4 and 8 are the hard parts, the plus side is that it does not require the engine to be modified. It of course could be made much more complex and this does not take into account multiplayer. Apart from Mafi and TheBlood I don't know of anyone in the community who could attempt this.

Didn't Keith Postuchow write the original MMCC III?

A lot of water has passed under the bridge since those days Andrew and a lot more people (not including me) have coding skills. Is it closed source?

Wouldn't it just be easier to port CCMT stuff as a mod to TLD.
Just wondering.

Then we would lose CCMT's advantages.

Hello CC Fans
Looks like there is no progress at this one - right?

it would be the one thing to get.

Agreed
We can always hope that even as we type the boffins are working feverishly on a super new version of the game which will include the best bits of all previous versions.
