Apparently replacement pilots are coming in with the experience rating of their unit, rather than a recruit's rating. At least that's what is happening with my 8th AF fighter groups. I thought my fighter experience was staying a little high despite loses so I ran a test and butchered the 20th FG (experience 92) in a suicide sweep. I lost 27 pilots, and sure enough, when these pilots were replaced the average experience of the incoming recruit was a whopping 92.

Well? Is it WAD or WTF?

It's WAD, intended to reflect the advanced training units gave their new pilots, but you will not see this the whole war.

There comes a time when pilots are thrown into the maelstrom while very green.
