while playing Luftwaffe in BOB '40 1 day campaign, i encountered an oddity while reloading a save. On my original first game, no planes were downed during the FS. I reload the game, and this time I happened to down at least 15 Spits and Hurri's one after the other while landing with some E-4's during the FS. Quite a bit. [&:] wasnt FOW kills. according to campaign summary Britian loss 26 a/c including 1 on ground.

Another thing I found was that during another raid, I destroy about 8 LAA guns.

Im not crying game broken or anything, just seemed odd i could be that lucky.
I still have the save game.

btw, i just purchased the game 3 days ago and LOVING it!! [:D]

You just discovered the best way to quickly earn kills as the LW.  It's one of my favorite tactics.

I usually time some FS at RAF bases about 5 to 10 minutes after a raid hits it's target with the purpose of actually shooting down landing planes.  This is very effective.

Attacking low & slow flying landing planes gives huge advantage for attacker. In air combat altitude is power that can be transformed to speed when ever extra speed is needed but plane that is already too low to go for dive is basically just sitting duck to be massacred.

If landing plane turn nose to climb higher he move even slower which makes him even easier target if he choose level up plane then he still move slower that attacker that is diving from higher altitude. Actually every maneuver that landing plane try to make to avoid attacker slow up his plane even more and this could end up his plane stalling because he can’t dive to gain more speed needed to survive from extreme maneuvering.

Landing plane choices are (when attacked):
Fly straight to maximize speed (easy target)
Maneuvers to avoid attack manouvering slow up speed that is already low (even easier target)
Climb up to meet attacker slow speed even more (easy target)
Crash the plane on purpose to ground (could be safer option than getting fire from enemy fighter and then crash) (replacing plane is easier than replacing good pilot)
When surprised while landing pilot have only couple seconds to decide which one of these choices he is going to choose.

i agree, getting bounced on landing was disasterous. Guess i was just really lucky. At the same time though, i do want to give FC a chance. Its a shame they lost that many landing, but war is war.
i did read in the forums there was a message bug though; just trying to help out.

Timing is the key word, you can destroy a full squadron when it is landing, in a test game i downed a full Gladiator unit, 12 planes down but is very difficult do it in the air at least if you attack after the landing you can do a strafe [:D]

Another question is when you bomb an airfield and you take enemy landing, if you have high escorts they can try a bounce.

Of course bounce landing planes is critical because many has damage (more now with the new patch) or has short fuel and cant escape.

VS an human player is very dangerous it, add the option to land in secondary airfields could be great, in the afeternoon they move to their original airfields and can prevent true massacres in land.

or they can try defending, which will slaughter the attackers, if done right

it works both ways
