Fatigue/Morale levels of fighters on CAP

I have noticed that even flying say 50% CAP, over the course of a few days a sqd's morale can fall sharply and the fatigue rise at an alarming rate. This may be realistic if running at 80-100% every day, but I think it should be less severe if basically half the sqd is being rested every other day.

I predict a high percentage of IJAAF fighters are going to die on the ground once the Allied heavies start getting up to speed in 1943......

Put fighters on CAP 50/Rest 50 to keep their fatigue low. Simply CAP 50, as far as I can tell, means that fighters remaining on the ground are allowed to scrable.

I use 60 Cap, 30 rest and 10 unset without any undue problems. This even seems to work with LRCAP but heavy combat does have more of an effect.

I use 70/30 as a general guideline and don't have problems. Except, in malaria zones, I go 50/50, or at worst 60/40 if I'm being pressured. It's tempting even there, when you're getting stuffed, to go 80/20 or 90/10 for awhile, but the fatigue skyrockets.

I hate malaria.

It also helps to have 125% pilots assigned.

AHEM!

I love the way malaria is modelled in the game. It's a realistic tax on your ability to maintain offensive drives.

Anyways, to the original point, I think the following things help keep squadron / pilot CAP fatigue low:

1. 60/40 CAP / REST settings. "Hard code" the rest settings.
2. Reduce range to 0 if just local base coverage desired. Stay within 'normal' range settings for 'normal' fatigue. Anything beyond 'normal' range will result in greater fatigue.
3. Have a surplus of pilots to airframes.
4. Stand down your units every 3-4 days if possible, particularly if a nasty weather front is moving into the area.
5. Avoid LRCAP if possible. I find that fatigue is very rapid with this, particularly at longer distances (see #2 above).
6. Avoid malarial areas for major airodromes...[;)]

Canoe, would appear that this is so. Chalk it up to Kwanzaa.....

[:'(]

Query: can anyone isolate altitude as bearing enormously (or not) on pilots' fatigue???

You are right, this seems odd, so I am going to continue with this universal insult tonight just for balance "And your mother is a hamster, and your father smells of elderberries ".

Not that if your Primary mission is Escort and you set 50% CAP, 50% of your fighters may still fly bomber escort. Setting 50% CAP/50% Rest will stop them flying Escort.
