Unknow Error Value

I just bought and patched TLD and I'm getting a bit of a strange error.
Whenever I try to start an operation or campaign, I get a pop up with "unknown error value" and CTD.
I'm running vista home basic with the game in XP SP2 compatibility and as administrator. The PC is a netbook, but I'm running CC in a window.
It has to be something to do with the campaign map, I can run single battles.
Any thoughts?
EDIT: it seems some single battles also give the same error.

why are you running in XP compatibility? .... it runs fine in vista
1366 x 768 should also be no problem.

I was running it in XP compatibility because it fixed an "unknown sound error".
I have 2GB of RAM
I have an Intel graphics Media Accelerator that dxdiag says has 763mb of memory, which could be shared.

can you attach you dxdiag here please?
I wonder if Vista Basic leaves something out or that little processor runs out of puff.
From your options screen try turning off all sound, music and video.

Here's the dxdiag
EDIT: further examination seems to show that Vista is hogging up all the RAM to do useless background tasks and TLD/the "video chip" can't seem to steal much RAM from it.

Your DXdiag shows you running using 32bit color, try 24bit (or 16bit if 24bit isn't option or doesn't) color to lower the memory required. Close Combat games use 16bit color images so you will not see a drop in graphic quality in the game and it might allow you to run it....

Couple more things for you;
1) you have only Vista SP1, install SP2
2) your video drivers are from 12/17/2008 and there are newer ones from 8/11/2009
