PH 7-Dec-41: Not a Single Torpedo Hit

After applying the latest hotfix, I started a new scenario 1 as Allies vs Japanese AI. After the combat, I went to survey the wreckage at PH. The first thing I noticed was my BB's all had almost no flotation damage. So I went and read the combat report. And lo and behold, not a single torpedo hit. My airfield was pretty well trashed, tho ...
Is this just a random event? I haven't done day 2 yet, so it might be they are saving the torpedoes for second day strikes. But it certainly is unusual. Have others seen this?

This is very rare (I've never seen it), but not impossible.

Haven't noticed much regarding the airstrike but I seem to have noticed a reduced chance of success for the midget subs at PH since the 1095 patch.
It is not a big deal but that was my impression after about five or six 7 Dec. attacks.

I have never seen it either. Maybe the AI came in too high and could only drop bombs. Almost impossible to get no floatation hits after a Pear Harbour attack.

Actually in light of some other threads stating that too many Allied ships get sunk that day this is very interesting.

I have seen an attack on Pearl with no torpedo hits.
That's not a claim intended to support any denegration of the design.
It is just an extreme random event.
I pointed out in another thread where some one mentioned that consistent sinking of 5-7 BBs might be excessive that if you experience enough iterations you will see the distribution curve settle out. I have seen at least two attacks where 2 BBs and one BB were sunk respectively.
One day I sat through 10 iterations of the first turn surprise attack just to see how many variables I could experience, in addition to at least 6 other games played through at least the first month.
You really, really need to try to experience as many iterations of the random events as possible to be able to see a real distribuition of events.
No I don't have saves of them all.
Yes, my post constitutes purely anecdotal evidence.

I'm guessing that you turned off combat animations before running turn 1 so many times? Even so, that must have taken some time...

In reply to thegreatwent - yep, that's almost exactly what I saw - a bunch of bomb hits but not one torpedo hit.
And then on day 2, 30 zeros and 60 kates came in over 20,000 feet going for the airbase, and the kates got slaughtered. Most unusual.

good to see not all PH attacks work out perfectly imo, gives less ammo to the AFB's while the JFB's whine [:'(].. when you have even numbers complaining the games about right [:D]
please note i don't attach fanboy to anyone who has posted yet <hides in fire proof clothing behind the sofa>

This is very rare (I've never seen it), but not impossible.
Not that rare, I've seen it twice already ..... Granted the PH raid shouldn't always be devistating but hit a large stationary target, actually several lined up in a line would seem to have 50+ misses .... At sea, a ship can maneuver. In port, you have to rely on the shallow depth and/or the flyboys being distracted by all those pretty fireworks reaching out to touch them ....
