Hi-Allies, v1096a(I think) , date as above. I'm in a quandry and would like some advice.

Situation: Japanese: hold Burma up to Akyab(Allied), DEI, Philippines, Baker, Koumac on New Calidonia and Port Morseby!!

Allies hold PH, Wake, Midway,Palmyra, Canton, Suva, Luganville and Noumea and Gasmata. All of Australia. India is secure-so far.

On the other hand, the Allies have sunk 5 of 6 Japanese prewar CVs, both prewar CVLs, a CVE and a BB. Allied losses are Sara, Warspite, a whole bunch of CAs and CLs. (Which I know I'll get back later). Lex and Enterprise are at PH with major damage-11 and 70+ days to repair.

Wake has been a sink hole for enemy CVs. There is a 2 CV TF off Wake.

Port Morsby is a major loss for Allies. There are VERY few Allied VF in Australia. The enemy has deployed 3-5 BBs into the Bismark Sea area, which accounts for the PM disater.

u sunk the pre war cv's? Which ones? Seems you are doing GREAT, who cares about PM? I would think ain a few months you'll have huge air superiority and can take out hte Jap navy... good luck to the ai trying to feed those far off bases with no ships....

Kaga, Akagi, Hiryu, Zuikaku, Shokaku. BB is Ise.

I know Soryu was badly damaged, so she'll be out of action for some months.

Your actually doing very well. SUmmer of 42 might be a bit boring for you with his fleet dismantled.

I didn't know CA's come back. I thought that was taken out in AE

stldiver-I don't know about CA replacement either. Perhaps some guru can enlighten us.

As in WitP, US CVs and CAs, and Australian CAs will be replaced if lost prior to 1944. You MUST have the "Use Respawn" option ON for the scenario to use this feature.

With "Use Respawn" ON, the Allied player wil still receive the named reinforcements, but will not be able to rename the ships.

For example, in Scenario 01 the Allied player has the Lexington at start, and receives the Lexington II as a reinforcement.

With "Use Respawn" ON, if the Lexington is sunk prior to 1944, the Allied player would receive an Essex-class CV, named Lexington, as a replacement. The Allied player would also still receive the Lexington II, but could not rename the ship.

With "Use Respawn" OFF, if the Lexington is sunk prior to 1944, the Allied player would not receive an Essex-class CV replacement, just the already scheduled Lexington II. This ship could, however, be renamed as the player desired.

With "Use Respawn" OFF, any ship in the reinforcement list whose name ends with 'II' (eg Wasp II) can be renamed.

The "Use Respawn" option box is found in the editor, under the "SCENARIO" tab. Please note, all vanilla scenarios have "Use Respawn" OFF as default.

Don't fret. The KB is the most powerful mobile asset that the Japanese have and usually turns the course of any battle in 1942. The fact that he lost most of it this early on means that you may potentially go on the offensive in a few short months and that the Japanese have advanced as far as they can in the Pacific area. They probably still have capability to advance in SE Asia and in China but you can soon start your first moves against his perimeter. I would begin a series of light raids (DDs, CLs, and CAs) over the Summer while waiting for my CVs to repair and try to determine the weak points in his line. Be mindful of his LBA range circles. Once your CVs come back online, look for a Fall Offensive against whatever weak point he presents.

Riva Ridge-Thanks for that input. So far(mid-May '42) the Japanese AI keeps butting it's head up against the Wake bastion, resulting in more losses.

In PBEM games, you must have the Use Respawn box checked in the editor before you start the scenario; in-game database changes are not allowed for PBEM.
For vs. AI, I also believe it must be on before starting a game, but I'm not 100% sure - I've never tried to activate it after starting - I am however, about 99% sure that you have to have it on before starting.

Using Respawn

1) Open AE editor
2) click 'File'
3) click 'Open Scenario'
4) click scenario you wish to modify; vanilla scenarios are in slots 001 - 010
5) click 'Load/Save' tab to load the scenario
6) click 'Scenario' tab
7) click 'Use Respawn' box
8) click 'File'
9) click 'Save Scenario As...'
10) select slot you wish to use for your scenario
11) In the green dialog box (right above the 'Load/Save' and 'Cancel' tabs, should say "none"), enter a name for your modified scenario (I usually use something simple, like "Scen01 Respawn On")
12) click 'Load/Save' tab to save.

Step 11 is important - if you don't enter a name, the scenario will simply be called, by default, "none". You should, however, be able to use any of the slots not being used for vanilla scenarios. I suspect you did, in fact, save your scenario to slot 27; you just didn't change the "none". For myself, I have used slots 30, 33, 35, and 40 with no problems. I also just tried slot 27, and had no problems.
