Hello.

I've played the free version of SPWAW for several years. I never had any issues running the game on my PC. It's an older PC (Dell Dimension 8300) with 3 GB of RAM. Also I am running on Windows XP SP3.

Less than a week ago I purchased the SPWAW - General's Edition to get the four mega-campaigns. Unfortunately I can't get it to work. It's crashed every time that I've used it (No matter which mega campaign that I start). I've spent over ten hours since then trying to play it since installing it. It works for four or five turns and then it dies. Half of the time I have had to reboot my PC when it stopped responding and gave me a breakpoint error. The other times the session just dies. I've checked out and tried many of the suggestions within the SPWAW forums but haven't had any success in getting the game to work for me.

Please respond back when you can with suggestions on how I can get this game to work.

If you have command and control turned on, the mega's wont work correctly

Alby, I've always kept Command Control turned off. Also I am running version 8.403. Noticed some of your comments warning against using the enhanced version with the mega-campaigns so I am not doing that either.

I would contact support here, or PM Goblin, perhaps you can get another with no charge...

With 3g of ram it's not as old as my box. XP SP3 too.
I assume that the Generals Edition comes with 8.2
If so, did you install the patches in order? 8.3 then 8.4 the 8.403
Or did you do the update from the game menu?
Have you been able to play the base scenarios, not the mega campaigns?

Thank you for your response. My Dell PC is six years old but I did add more memory to it to bring it up from 1 GB to 3 GB.

I have already been playing the free version of SPWAW for a few years. I did have to patch the free version up to version 8.403.
I bought the Generals edition with the Mega-campaigns right after Christmas and it came with version 8.403 so I didn't have to patch it.

I've focused only on the mega-campaigns in the Generals edition up to now. I'll try a few of the scenarios and then respond back. Thanks for the suggestion.

Alby is right, I think. PM Erik Rutins. It looks like you have attempted numerous things to resolve this, to no avail. Maybe Erik can help. Not sure if he back from holiday break yet, so it may take a little bit to receive a reply.

Dunno if you checked at the Depot yet, but maybe someone can help. There is much higher traffic there than here.

Hello Goblin.

I created a new post explaining the issue within the SPWAW Depot's forums. Received a quick reply from Mentor. He said that after he installed GE he moved the mega campaign folder into his old SPWAW installation and deleted the GE install. He said that he had lost interest in the GE install so he hadn't tested the solution very much.

I tried that but I still encountered the issue. I even tried to use the SPWAW enhanced version but I'm still getting the issue. Used modswap to go back to the original version (Stopped using the enhanced version). Still haven't received a reply from Matrix support yet. I did send an email to Eric over a week ago as you and Alby suggested but I haven't received a reply so maybe he is not back from the holiday break yet.

Thank you very much for the suggestions. At this point I am pretty much out of ideas on how to fix this problem.
