It's nappy, it has the best diplomacy engine in any grognard game, and a tactical engine which was the best of its kind in 2009. Do you like good ol' Boney? Then it is your game. I don't say it can't be better but currently it is by far the best grand strategy Nappy game.

The economics are interesting also. You can be a brilliant military strategist but still get your butt kicked if you ignore diplomacy and economics.

One of the best engines for PBEMs out there. Until you master it, playing against the AI is very challening and great fun, and even after you master it (and can waltz through the AI on tactical maps) by imposing self-rules and perhaps using only the quick or instant battles, play against the AI can remain quite challenging. It is much like FoF in that respect: the AI can't really totally handle the tactical battles and once you figure out his tricks he is pretty hapless as long as you have close to parity. Like all these games, play against AI becomes less fun as you master it. But then there is PBEM! The ability to shape your economy, diplomacy, and to "build" your army composition (with specific units in containers and with specific and global promotions as in FoF) is a real treat for a strategy gamer, both against AI and in PBEM. It is "better" than FoF in the sense that it covers more area, a more complex cultural/political scene, has more scenarios, more geographic complexity, and a much longer potential time span for the Grand Campaign. I have yet to finish a grand campaign game, despite playing it regularly for however long it has been out (a year plus?).
Definite must buy for any strategy wargamer with any interest in the Napoleonic era.

Naval Battles could be a standalone game.

Thanks. We've certainly thought about it...
