Everyone probably has nav weapons in their book marks. The most comprehensive link I have found for shore-side ordnance of all types is ORDATA: http://maic.jmu.edu/ordata/ordata.htm. They do include naval ordinance.

Just in case you really need to know the differences between US 12 inch deck-piercing projectiles (fired by coast mortars?):

I think I saw someone musing about that topic in one of the threads lately. Now all we need is a good argument on which type would have been stocked at which battery.

I figure the devs probably relied on published sources, so I would be curious to read any comments they have time to make on the accuracy of ORDATA.

We did. And from a lot more places than just NavWeaps. CD gun fire is subsumed within the game code. It might be nice to have a whole routine dedicated to just CD fire, but then there are 9 different combat modes, and 7 different weapon types that can potentially fire through those modes, so ... what? ... 63 different subroutines? Woof !!

Ya'll are just gonna have to deal with and accept a certain amount of aggregation and amalgamation. Understand that the open-ended code is open to abuse. So be it. Why do we have to dick with the code because some over-aggressive player hits Hawaii, and gets lucky?

Outliers are a fact of life. They might be immediately exciting, but are often the source of cess-pool city in the following year.

We would rather have a dork-head play this type of game, and lose the war in a year by being stupid, than try to limit stupidity by coding.

But then, one can never limit stupidity by much of anything. [;)] Accuracy, in and of itself, is just one of several parameters used to calculate hit probability.

I posted it because people might not have it or might have strong feelings about their accuracy; and this seemed like the better forum to get some comment on it.

I mainly use it for modding TOAW. There's way to much under the hood in this game about the numbers that I am just not ready to fiddle with.

And I never complain about code. [;)]

If my shore batteries weren't hitting anything, I'ld look at the commander first. And then his commander. And I would court martial the guy that should have been searching the area.

But back to meaningless trivia: If you are modeling the M1918A projectile, I think your "effect" is off by 21 pounds and a few ounces. Of course, you could have more accurate sources, my conversion from kilos to pounds could be screwy, or you have one of those really good reasons that hurt my head and distract me from game play. [:)]

And that's the idea that ain't broke about this game. I'm hoping to lose my first PBEM war playing the Full Babe's Mod, or whatever you are calling it.
