Hi all,

Just wondering what limits rearming a sub with torpedoes? Have tried searching but cannot get a clear answer.

I have ASs in place and plenty of supplies, but in one case says 'cannot fully rearm' or similar but in another seems to repupply fine but when I look at the sub the torpedos have not been replenished. Does port size matter as well as having an AS? Nationality of tender? Nationality of base?

Are there supplies aboard the AS?

Otherwise, check the table under 20.1.2.2 (pp 284-288 in the original printed manual).

The nationality of the tender or base is not supposed to matter, IIRC.

I have a Dutch AS (with supplies) at a Aussie base (Townsville) and it will resupply American subs
just fine. The base is not that big, maybe a level 3 at most. I don't think that nationality plays a part
in the AS, supplies or base. That would be a programming nightmare for the 2by3 team.....

If it resupplies US subs fine, then what is the nationality of the sub you have problems with? Check the type of torpedo and the table mentioned above. There might be different requirements for different types of torpedos

Ahh supplies actually on the AS ... that'll probably be the issue. Defo haven't got them loaded up ... will give that a try. Thanks! And the table is very handy - looked through but somehow managed not to see that.

The manual is clear as mud on this subject. But here is my read of the manual and the forum entries:

• If an AS is present, then Port Size does not matter.
• The AS must be at anchor in the port.
• The must be enough supply present to rearm. Supply required is: [(Rearm Cost) * (number of tubes) * (torpedoes per tube)] / 2000.
• Cargo capacity of the AS must be greater than the Rearm Cost of the torpedo.

Look at your AS and look at the torpedoes that you are trying to rearm. Example: You have the AS Platypus in Broome. You are attempting to rearm torpedoes on the British Triton Class Submarine Truant. You have an abundance of supply, but it won't work. Why? The truant has 21" Torpedoes that have a rearm cost of 1620. The Platypus has a Cargo capacity of 1200. It can not rearm 21" Torpedoes.

See the table in the manual 20.1.2.2 SHIP REARMAMENT AT PORTS TABLE. The first column shows the type of ammunition. The second column shows the rearm cost of that ammunition.

Actually, the AS can be disbanded in the port and it will rearm subs just fine, as long as it has supplies loaded on board.  If a sub normally carries mines, though, the AS won't reload them.

mines need a large port (see the same table mentioned above) and the submarine needs to be on a sub minelaying mission. This includes O-19, O-20 and Argonaut, the three allied minelayer subs. To reload their mines, they have to have a sub minlaying mission.
