Version 1.7

Just downloaded the latest version today as my old game was crashing about once or twice per day. Disappointingly, I lost access to my old saved game which I had spent a huge deal of effort on. Anyway, my issue now is that after loading, the game window will not maximise and I can still see my windows task bar. I can also only see about 90% of the screen and cannot see the buttons to end my turn etc at the bottom. I have windows vista SP2 and have reboooted etc.

Had this problem also, initially. I think it was solved by opening the game to it's first "frozen" page, chosing preferences and the resolution setting I liked, and then exiting the game. When I started all over it was ok. But I'm not sure. You have to try it.

Thanks, got it now. Just never seen the option before. The windowed option is clearly no good as you cannot scroll to the menu options so they should either remove it ir get it to resize accordingly. Anyway, thanks again, appreciated!

If you choose a window that nearly fills your screen, something less than the full screen resolution, it can be a good way to run the game. This allows you to run other programs and select between them very effortlessly.

If your old game was in version 1.6 you can edit the misc.csv with notepad. Change the "1.6" to "1.7" in the top line, and you are good to go.

That worked for me, thanks a lot. I was able to play my 1.6 game after applying the 1.7 patch. One other thing, I am happy to see that encircled units cannot do SMP anymore outside the encirclement.

Hi, I too had a saved game in v1.60 and when I updated to 1.7 it would not let me load my game. I tried doing what you suggested, but found the following when I looked in the misc.csv file (under scenarios is where I could find it). The 1.6 was already 1.7...does this mean I am out of luck and have to start over? Thanks for your help in advance.

The file you want to modify is not in the "Scenarios" folder but in the "Save" folder.  Look in "Save" for the folder name that represents the last save you made. If you went with the default it is called "My Saved Game" I think. When you open this folder there should be a Misc.Csv inside there also. Make a quick backup of this file before editing.

This Misc.Csv will have "1.6" in that line, and this is the one you want to modify.  Save the file and load the SaveSet with that name, and it should now allow you to load under 1.7.

Just an aside about saving : When I save I tend to rename the save name each time, and I end with a YYMMDD, as in "AlliedTwo390901".  This pattern allows me to go back to an earlier save if I want to replay.

Chuck - thanks for the help. I will try that. In the meantime I started a new game with 1.7 (and hotfix updated) and got a crash so I looked in the console folder and this is what I found at the very bottom of the notepad. What can you make of it...

Well, actually Polish, and the developers will have to grab this one.

twitter, are those crashes reproducible?
If yes, can you send me (bleck[at]wastelands-interactive[dot]com) whole savegame directory that crashes and list of steps that you do to crash the game?
Is it always the same (or very similar) text in consoleout.txt after crash?

Chuck,

When I save that original misc.csv file do I keep it in the same folder? I was able to save it and then changed the 1.6 to 1.7 and saved that as misc1.csv but it didn't work. I then tried moving the original misc.csv (with the 1.6) out of that folder leaving only the misc1.csv (1.7) in the save folder, but it still didn't work. What am I messing up on?

You need to have file named misc.csv and value 1.7 in it. So all you need to do now is to rename misc1.csv to misc.csv
