I didn't know that this facility existed. I've found it in the manual and it talks about yellow items and asterisks but I've never seen any toe in yellow nor any asterisks. Is this specific to the Japanese as I'm playing the Allies, Could some give me an example maybe as I have at one Indian Bde that I've what an equipment upgrade too. one

If '*' then press show toe button then if text is yellow then click to see the future toe.

Thank goodness. When I saw the subject line, I thought perhaps this had something to do with a certain forum member's foot digits (toes).[;)]

OK now I've found it and it looks good on paper. But there is a big problem with it.
There is no way that I can see of knowing when an upgrade to the TOE is due without going into each and every unit and writing down a date, hopefully not losing the paper afterwards. The dreaded asterisk is not much help other than telling you there is one. The only thing that comes close to helping is tracker but that doesn't have any dates yet.
If I'm wrong here I'll take it back but it seem this wan't thought out enough.[&:]

Not only do you not know when a unit is going to upgrade (short of writing all the dates down), you don't know which units are upgrading and which ones aren't, unless you've got an incredible memory and can recall which units you turned to "receive reinforcements" and put in rest mode 10 turns ago. I can't do that so I end up wasting a lot of time looking through stacks of LCU's to see which ones are turned "on" and which ones aren't.

Some of the upgrades make no sense anyway. Many, if not all of the US Armyair HQs have their torpedo ordnance removed by an upgrade[X(]
As I said TOE upgrades seem poorly thoughtout and needs looking at quickly or removing entirely.

Torp ordnance is not a part of the unit toe it is simply a flag that is set for air HQs during campaign load. Toe upgrades should not effect this.
There are two ways to change a unit when designing a scenario.
1. Withdraw - unit can be withdrawn and then come back as a different unit.
2. Toe upgrades - meeting two conditions (in range of command HQ and rest mode) the units equipment can be changed out for similar equipment. The conditions were put in to make it bit more plausible meaning we didn't want units upgrading in the middle of nowhere.
These two features were put in for OOB-er designer and not necessarily for the player. You do not need to micromanage toe upgrades, if it happens it happens if it don't it don't. At some point your unit will be in range of a command HQ and at rest mode and the magic will happen. Even if the unit does not upgrade, its devices will continue to upgrade just like in witp.

John L. - Click on "G" to pull up all your ground units. Then sort by clicking on the Replacement. Y will get those to the top of the window and you can go from there.

TOE upgrades were well thought out and extensively tested not sure why you are saying they are not thought out but there is a very simple answer if you dont like them either ignore them totally or go through the editor and remove them your choice.
Exactly 1 units on the whole map gets a reduced TOE out of a TOE upgrade all the others become better so dont need to be worried about if they happen they happen if they dont they dont
1st Burma Div gets sent to be a training formation at some stage about 9 months into the war so if you dont want that to happen keep it out of rest mode but its pretty much the only TOE upgrade you need to worry about.

Hi BigJ,
To confirm - whether the TOE is upgraded or not the devices will do so anyway?
