frankly im really lost after buying this game with no tutorial included. the dl manuel seems to assume you have prior xp with the older version? at least to me it does. ive tried watching the ai play but it still doesnt show resources expended or maybe im not looking in the right place? another neebish thing i cant figure out how to save game after the order phrase is done. some of the turns are very long and i would love to know how to save game in the action phrase if possible in case i need to afk or leave the game.
the game looks amazing with all the details but im not sure the dl manuel explains the game or how to play it? my hard copy should be arriving any day . is the hardcopy manuel better at explaining how the game works. ive really tries to figure the game out since my last post but am having a very hard time. im almost tempted to buy the old version that has a tutorial to learn to play this game. right now im dissapointed in the game as i have no idea what resources to go after , how much oil a tf is using , what does a size2 port give you that a size 1 port doesnt. maybe im missing it in the dl manuel but i dont see this stuff explained.
anyways to be fear i may be missing the stuff in the dl man. i knew buying this game it would have a long learning curve but i also was told it came with a tutorial. so for sombody new before i open my hard copy is the man the same as what the dl ed copy? thanks jim

Asking a question and you'll get an answer on this forum, lots of ppl are learning to play and the old heads are here to help...

Don't worry about resources & Oil for now, you should be playing as the Allies to begin with & probably not stumbling around as the Japanese. Fuel is for

another neebish thing i cant figure out how to save game after the order phrase is done. some of the turns are very long and i would love to know how to save game in the action phrase if possible in case i need to afk or leave the game.
During the combat resolution phase you cannot save the game, but as the game is automatically saved when you click END Turn, you can always come back and watch from the beginning again.

Most players, make a save directly after the combat phase, (and I usually make incremental saves as I do my orders)... this can be achieve by clicking the little file icon on the top Left of the menu.
... right now im dissapointed in the game as i have no idea what resources to go after , how much oil a tf is using , what does a size2 port give you that a size 1 port doesnt. maybe im missing it in the dl manuel but i dont see this stuff explained.
Resources - get the mechanics down first, then later look at production.
TF's don't use oil, rather fuel. Why do you want to know the exact use aren't there bigger issues that you should look at first ? (AND the next release of WitpTracker will explore this)
Ports p211 of the e-manual explains about port sizes.
anyways to be fear i may be missing the stuff in the dl man. i knew buying this game it would have a long learning curve but i also was told it came with a tutorial.

thanks jim
A tutorial is still in the works, I'm doing some video tutorials too

Keep with it man, there is plenty of advice out there such as this which was posted recently fb.asp?m=2354030
Play around with Staff or Tracker (two utils avail)
Visit some AAR's, and the War Room...

Good Luck

I did not learn much from the tutorial in WITP other than to become more comfortable with the game. I did learn some from playing the small scenarios against the AI. I learned a lot by reading the AAR's and the rest of the forum and finally learned the most when playing a PBEM. ymmv
