My Game Always Freezes when I click OK on the naval screen -please help

I just bought WW2:ToW last night. My problem is that when the screen appears which says "no sea battles this turn", I click "OK" and I hear a drum-roll; and then my game freezes on that screen. At this point the only thing to do is control-alt-delete and bring up the task manager; which says that WW2:ToW is not responding.
What can I do to stop this from happening? Thanks in advance
by the way: I'm using the 1.7 patch with the latest hot-fix.

Please take a look is it also happening without hotfix.

The freeze doesn't happen if I take the mini-map off "political mode" before I end my turn. and the freeze happened with both the hotflix and without the hotfix.

Just to be sure I understood this: game freezes after clicking OK button after sea battles only when mini-map has ownership mode turned on (additional colors on it)?
Are you sure this is the reason?

It seems to be. I didn't have the problem before I turned on the mini-map ownership mode; and I never had it again after I turned ownership mode off. Now I just don't use ownership mode or, if I do, I just make sure to turn it off before I end my turn. So now I'm really enjoying my first campaign without any tech issues. By the way, I think that WW2:ToW is truly a fantastic game. I'm very glad I bought it. Thanks!

In this case we will look closer into code responsible for mini-map highlighting and hopefully fix this bug in next patch.
