Does anyone know the field or fields in the editor (Ship or ship class) used to allow sunk American heavy cruisers and CV's to replace through 1944? My playing group is looking into some variants and would like to use this functionality. Thanks.

In the scenario editor, under the scenario tab, there is a check box labeled Use Respawn. I Think this is what you are looking for. The editor manual barely mentions it, but I don't know if it works or not.

The Respawn feature works.

Thanks,
Do you know if the design tool is fleixible enough to select the ship types to be respawned or the eligible dates? If so, is there any best design practice you know?

As I understands it it is only an ON or OFF feature. All stock scenarios have respawn OFF. If you make a user scenario with respawn ON it means that US Carrier, Cruiser (also AUS) and perhaps Minesweeper will respawn. It is a static thing with no real possibility to make a detailed design. In my scenario a lost a carrier and one or two cruisers in 1942 (January). They will "come back" in spring 1945.
My original hope was that you could define for each ship class a respawn behavior, like what class and delay a sunk ship should respawn as. In some way that would make sense as it is to be expected that if losses are heave in a specific type of ships, more new ships would be laid down than otherwise would be the case. It would however then be necessary to introduce shipyard point for the allies as well.
