Does infantry get any advantages over armor in defending cities or certain types of terrain? Can armor "dig in", and get the +5% defense bonus each turn it stays in the same position -like infantry can? Thanks in advance

Can't find it at a quick glance in the manual.
Most games do reflect this. Good question.

The two are treated the same, all land unit types get the bonus, and defend the same.
Playing three or four turns shows this pretty clearly.

Is there any point to infantry then? Do they get any advantages over armour?
(Note: I am totally new to this type of game)

They are much cheaper. Otherwise I don't believe so.
